  • It took you 3:50 second to actually do anything? LOL

Do you get paid by the hour?

  • I really love YouTube free info sharing, but DIY-ers BEWARE! Check with all the manufacturer's website and any available OEM manuals BEFORE doing any sort of DIY work. I speak from experience because I have broken many things from my own overzealous white trash DIY actions. (and probably will continue to do so in the future). BUT DO YOUR RESEARCH! As many people below stated, there are several steps skipped here that could lead to damage, injury, or worse. Nonetheless, GDMf-ing funny video.

  • u r FUCKING AWESOME! love the cussing. hate those shiny nice fix it videos. my husband laughs at me watching u tube to learn how to do stuff. don't appologize for cussing, if they don't like it, they can watch something else! keep it up it's GREAT! feels good too huh? also, don't listen to ANYONE who says it took too long to make your video. it's a HUGE HELP for people like me who've NEVER done something like this before. PERFECT VIDEO and the others r right, u r hawt!

  • Great video, very informative and simple! I am glad I found it.

    Thanks, my friend! Be warm!

    : )

  • For God's Sake....roflmao...thanks for the vid! Q: Aren't I supposed to turn the water off to the heater at top before starting? Stay cool :o)

  • Our water heater is a piece of shit. But I've never flushed it, and I've been there 4 years. I hope it helps.

  • I loved the cursing in this, haha.

  • i ran a bath today...when i went to get in the fukkin water was black....which prompted me to go online ...im glad i did.

  • so you dont need to shut the water valve off? just let it run?

  • We need to flush mouths out with soap

  • We need to flush mouths out with soap

  • God you are soo fucking HOT!

  • Nice vid. but have a question...have a State Turbo w/h. Where's the drain valve? Can't find it!

  • Procedure was wrong. Water heater should be turned off and gas supply cut off. Faucet inside house needs to be open too for air inside water heater to escape while filling it with water. Video was too long yet he forgot a lot of important items.

  • Good video Fuck ya!!

  • way to scratch the shit out of the bathtub. And watch your foul mouth, tough guy

  • I hope the amount of water coming is the same of the water coming out. otherwise, your hot rod just melt.

  • you are cute as can be and the cursing was great :) but you lost me with all the ums :(

  • next time, stick the hose in your face..you suck!

  • thanks for the great video my slacker ass boyfriend finally flushed it out after 7 years all because you said fuck keep making these videos so i can get more shit done around my house

  • thanks for the video my slacker ass boyfriend decided to flush it out its only been seven years all because you said fuck

  • thank u for this video my slacker ass boyfriend finally flushed it out because you said fuck in your video

  • Dont cuss in front of my kids, young man. When you said shit, my daughter said "Ummm!"

  • @easyhec haha i know it was 3 months ago you posted your comment. But seriously, If you dont like the cursing dont watch the video i know im being obvious.

  • Remember to make sure the hot water heater is FULL before turning back on the power on electric water heaters, otherwise, you will blow the heating element(s). Besides this little omission, it was an informative and entertaining video.

  • Some videos show the water supply and elecltric or gas being shut off before you drain teh tank but I guess it's not necessary Thanks for Posting

  • I have watched this video twice and just wanted to thank you very much for helping me with this chore. I am an old grandma living alone and am just learning how to do things by myself! God Bless you for all your Yo tube video. You made it easy and clear to understand. Thanks again! An old grandma in Golden Colorado. (no there wasn't any beer in the sediment from the Coors factory! lol

  • Way too much boring dialogue. Next time try just the facts and way less "ah...ah...ah..." this video shouod have been 1 minute long not 10.. Peace.Out

  • Hey, do you know how often you have to flush it out to take out the sediment and stuff? Because ours just burst and leaked like a waterfall. were getting a new one soon and i'm just asking so I know when we should drain it. Thanks!

  • Hint:, to prevent people from closing your video at the very beginning, do not put Music at the first of the video. Remember, 90% of the people do not like your taste in music.

  • did you rember to tell the user to shut off the braker before doing this so you dont toast the element.

or put it on pilot only if a gas unit.

  • idiot

  • excellent video. very informative and very easy to follow. I've been searching for a clear how-to video about this and none were as easy and clear as yours. great job man! now I feel confident to do this at home. You have no idea how helpful this video is to me. I've called some plumber to see how much it'd cost me for them to do this. Thanks again bro.

  • the water heater lacks earthquake straps non compliance, what do you do if the chunks of mineral deposits are larger than the hose and valve?

  • Too slow. Uum... uhm.. uhmm.. OMG, too SLOW!

  • your weird

  • @PS3ification your really weird

  • Beyond simply draining the heater, is there a way to put some flush material in it--like you do with a car radiator?

  • Plumbing and hard rock... could it get any better?

  • Great video - I like the handyman cussing approach rather than the Bob Vila "fantasy land" of shiny home repair.

  • This video tutorial kicked ass. I got an electric 80 gallon mother f'er and I'm hoping it doesn't take all damn day to clear out the shit in it. It's only two years old so hopefully it won't be too bad. Thanks again buddy.

  • great vid. my water heater is about 13 years old. latley ive been havin diferent water pressures at differt taps ? also some times the heat isnt as hot as normal. i was wondering if its from deposits of calcium from the water heatrer. the tap nossels had whit shit so i replaced those. i cracked open the drain valve on the heater but it wa s cold water ? also couldnt get that fukker to stop leaking, plastic garbage. i guees ill try the flush deal tomorow , il waut for the stores to open up !

  • Awesome, thanks for sharing. I always thought you had to switch off the gas and the water and everything, but this looks much easier. 5 stars

  • I bought a home and the water pipe and water heater has anti freeze in it so it don't freeze. Can flushing the water heater clean it up?

  • thanks 4 the upload on this tutorial. I was wondering how to do this..........

  • I can't believe it's so easy. Thanks for this video. Very helpful! p.s. did you just give the bird at the last 3 secs of the video?? haha

  • thanks for the vid this is how i was taught to drain my heater.how ever all the other vids say to shut off supply valve turn off gas ,next of kin yadda yadda .whats the difference,my water heater bangs and makes noise sometimes, but when i drain it there is no rust or dark colored water only clear stuff ???????????????

  • Thanks for the fuckin' video, it helped. I was fortunate that I had a heavy duty garden hose, gotta watch out for those piece of shit ones!! Nice flip off at the end of your vid too. Later!

  • Oh my GOD I laughed so hard when I read this lol. Thanks for watching man, keep kickin' ass and takin' names. FUCK YEA! lol

  • hi friend. great video, clear as fresh water. enjoyed the cussing too haha. here`s a question from argentina. the gas control of my water heater seems to be the problem. should I take it off and dismantle it to find out whats the matter with it? are these devices easy to fix ? I await your response. if you heat Buenos Aires sometime let me know I`ll show you around and get you a lot of chicas too. cheers.

  • Hi Enzo! I apologize for the late response, I have been away for a bit. I would suggest NOT taking apart your gas control. If it's the part I am thinking of, it can be tricky and if not reassembled properly can cause BIG problems. I would suggest hiring someone who does it professionally. Sorry I couldn't be of more help :(

  • @garlandbob more evidence of why the greatest country in the world is going down the drain. A lower standard and lower class of people every generation.

  • Thanks for the help!! so many people I talk to don't know how to use it. Great info and keep the money saving videos coming!!

  • The simple and "colorful" instructions were on the money. Unfortunately, it seems the maintenance came too late and our heater had to be replaced due to a continuous leak at the bottom of the tank.

  • lol glad my advice seemed plausible. Sorry to hear you had to replace it though man, I've been there and it's frustrating. Sometimes that's jsut the way it goes though I suppose, no matter how much it pisses us off haha! Keep your chin up and keep kickin ass!

  • Thanks for the help. Also the cussing was actually kinda cool, don't let some old Mr. Rogers fuddyduddy convince you to censor your thoughts!

  • Haha! Thanks man, glad it was helpful...and thanks for the support!

  • Great video! I didn't know you're supposed to flush out a water heater! I was looking for a video on how to change out the element, and stumbled upon this one. I will do this before I change it out. Thanks for the INFO!

  • Glad to be of service :)

  • Thanks for the awesome video! I'm the handywoman around the house and we have tons of sediment in our water (we've already lost one water heater to scale buildup). This video gave me lots of confidence. I had to keep the water supply on, too- otherwise I couldn't get much out. We live at sea level, so no real help from gravity. I look forward to watching your other videos- thanks!

  • I'm glad I could help! Keep kickin butt beowulfaz, and I will try to keep the vids coming :) Cheers!

  • Great video!

Oh, by the way...you are so hot!

  • Why thank you!...also...how you doin' :) lol

  • I'm doin' great. Seriously, a nice video and very clear and informative. You should do more like this on basic household projects. And yes, you look great....:)

  • He is HOT! Where do you live Deshmahn?

  • lol thanks :) I live in Boise, the city of trees!

  • So you did NOT shut off the water supply before flushing it? Or did I miss that step? My owners manual says to do that but when I went to flush it today I couldn't get anything to flow out with the supply off. It flowed just fine and I flushed it with the supply back on. My house is on a well and not city water if this matters.

  • Hey vaguy! That's correct I did NOT turn off the water supply. I've been yelled at before for not doing this, but like you said, I get a MUCH better result with it on as it forces water through the tank, mixing up all that crap inside and forcing it out. Sounds like you did just fine man :) Keep up the good work! Cheers!

  • is this the same for natraul gas water heaters?

  • hey there 98770! It's almost exactly the same, just set the gas valve to "Pilot" to keep the burners from coming on while you are flushing it. Otherwise that you should be all set :)

  • Awesome! thanks so much for posting this and the clogged drain vid. I'm a single mom and these vids help me SO much in several ways... 1. They help me save money by doing it myself, and 2. They help me to be able to teach my son the things that every decent man should know how to do since his dad wasn't decent enough to stick around to teach him. So yeah... thanks!

  • Glad I was able to help out a little! I've got a little boy myself, so I know how important it is to have someone help out like that. Let me know if there's anything I can help with! Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks for the step by step video. I live in a small town where there is a lot of mineral deposits in the water, so when I wasn't getting any hot water I did a quick internet search and eventually found this video. Now I don't have to pay anyone to come out and fix it.

  • That's great! I am glad I was able to help! You're right, after time sediment buildup can actually reduce the amount water your water heater can hold, so flushing it out occasionally can improve that, as well as extend the life of your elements :) Thanks for watchin' luvlexis!

  • I'm like, 'did he just say, 'fucking?"'

Good grief, how about showing some respect for your audience. It's rude.

  • lol sorry you feel that way Marvy. Better not watch any of my other videos if you didn't like this one lol. Just trying to keep it on the level you know, and most people I know do a little bit of swearing. luckily, mine isn't the only video out there on how to do this though, so you can choose another :) Sorry to offend, but i hope this was helpful :)

  • Sory to get irate. I come from a different era, and I've seen profanity just take over everything. I just get peeved about it occasionally.

  • no worries marv! i realize that swearing is not everyone's cup of tea, but you're probably right about profanity taking over lol. I will keep that in mind on my next vid, the last thing i want to do is turn people off of my vids. Thanks for the input!

  • My youngest daughter was watching too, since she discovered our water heater had a problem, and I just had to roll my eyes to her when you started the F-bombing and S-bombing. So there's that consideration too. Family viewing.

No worries about her though. She'll live. ;-)

  • I find it hard to believe that your water heater is so clean xD did you clean before filming? ... or should I go and clean mine now? :p

  • LOL! I suppose it's possible I may have cleaned up a bit before shooting this ;)

  • hey thanks for this vid. have a question though. Do I need to turn it to pilot light or turn off the gas first or just drain it?

  • Hey Mizikal! Just set the gas valve to "Pilot" to keep the burners from coming on while you are flushing it. Otherwise that you're good to go! Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any requests :)

  • WOW!!! Thank you, Alex! I had no idea water heaters needed preventative maintenance on them (waht can I say... I'm a girl). Now I know what I'll be doing this weekend LOL. Keep these videos coming!

  • Yeah, upkeep on your water heater can REALLY extend the life of it and helps prevent things that you would have to call a plumber, etc out for. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any requests!

  • Thank you so much for making this video. For a single girl you definately made this easy for me. I had no idea how easy it would be.You saved me a ton of money. I'm going to try the water heater flushin in the spring. If you get a simple video on fixing a leaky toilet would be great. Thanks again.

  • That's great! I'm glad I was able to help you out! I'm actually going to post another video tonight about Fixing clogged sinks and bathtubs, and I can definitely make one about leaky toilets. Where is the leak exactly?

  • Great video man! You kept me entertained even though flushing a water heater isn't the most exciting thing in the world. I like these new 'how to' videos you are doing and I definitely want to see some more. Great use of editing and cuts. I would expect a video like this to go on 15-20minutes but you included all the steps in a fun and concise way. I have no critiques, except to keep em coming! Maybe do a how to draw video in the future? or something about your motorcycle?

  • Thanks alot man! Any advice and/or praise from a veteran at this (such as yourself) is always welcome!
