It's funny how all the critics are turning tables and worshipping her now that she's gone...I don't consider myself a 'fan' of anyone. Amy was a person. People are imperfect and complex. She was a brave soul for sharing it all - good and bad, with the world. People are so quick to judge & assume the worst of others. Amy, I think, saw passed all that bullshit.

@OTBASAR I think what you're trying to say is that Amy's "something" is completely indescribable. We "feel" it flooding our consciousness and simply love what it does to us but haven't yet discovered "words" that are adequate enough, expressive enough.

It's clear (to this writer) that Amy's work is "seminal".

Do we need a new vocabulary? Perhaps an "Amy-abulary"? Or "Amy's ambit"?

@bobskeet I presume you're referring to Amy's vocal acrobatics. Amy could do things with her voice others could only dream about. But relatively speaking, not that many people knew Amy over here. Her music was probably more "suitable" for a mature, more intelligent audience. It was too real, too deep, too complex, too honest for a North American culture steeped in hypocrisy and superficiality. Amy wasn't willing to compromise her soul by selling out. Others do that readily.

The "divas" over here are manufactured by marketing and distribution strategies used in the music business to program young, impressionable minds. It becomes ingrained into the culture.
