  • The only one who comes close to Cavett today is Charlie Rose, I guess.

  • Interview year: 1980

  • ADL accused FZ of being anti-Semitic. Gee, even back then, same old tactic.

  • cavett was harvard grad. VERY intel

  • Is this about 78/79?

  • i lost it at "Who do you find weird, Frank?"

  • Cavett is all about himself,Frank is on a completly different level than him.Who would let this baloon interview any Artist when he understands absolutly nothing.

  • FZ is a very smart man.

  • one of the most brilliant and talented people in rock ever.

  • Cavett was unparalleled

  • hahahaha! a genius is someone who knows more than four chords on guitar. "That's a problem." Hahahahahahaha!

  • 3:48

I am almost certain that woman who laughed was called Mary

  • I'm a jewish dude and I can attest the lyrics of Jewish Princess are hilarious and true. Theres a reason why I choose not to date them.

  • Ah, the old days when interviewers actually asked pertinent questions and listened to the answers instead of just trying to crack jokes all the time.

Zappa once said about his children's 'weird' names: "If they have any problems with their names in the future, it'll be because of 'Zappa'".

  • I feel sorry for Dick, he was a huge fan of people that were really hard to interview like Frank and Marlon Brando, Hendrix .....

Watch his Brando interview if you haven't seen it ....

  • @Nautilus1972 Frank wasn't hard to interview. Hendrix wasn't that bad either. He did a lot of drugs his intellect was limited. Hendrix was a fuckin burn out in that interview, so was his performance.

  • looking at old interviews...artists of all kind were very smart back in the days...now I see interviews and they suck...whatever happens to intelligence!

  • @randycasey99 they aren't interviewed anymore. Can't let the public hear anything intelligent, you may inspire a few teenagers!

  • "Music is the only religion that delivers the goods"

Sweet baby christmas, I'M A BELIEVER!!!

  • Saddle shoes. Thats my man!!!

Cause we all know "Brown Shoes Don't Make it!"

  • YOU ROCK!! thanks.....

  • seems like the adl havnt changed... they still manipulate, bend the truth and lie to descredit anyone they don't like or who speaks against zionism

  • An incisive mind. Many people NOT in the public eye think well. Frank had the balls to think well no matter what the public thought.

  • I'm usually a huge fan of irony but when Frank mentions cancer (before he knew he had it) it makes me very sad. :(( RIP you fucking genius- you're one of my biggest heroes..

  • Frank was way more evolved than most humans.

  • I love both Cavett and Zappa...great to hear this!

  • it always struck me that frank is always razor sharp and right to the point.

  • It looks like the ADL had lots of practice before they got to Mel Gibson and his passion of the Christ movie.

  • Nice interview. Nice for once to hear the person being interviewed more than the guy doing the interview. Especially if the guy being interviewed is Zappa

  • I wish they actually got to talkabout what Zappa's normal day is like

  • god, what he says about liking/disliking music at around 5 minutes is SPOT ON! oh, and to all zappa fans, i have only listened to a couple of his songs but really wanna get into him, what album would you recommend me to start at? preferably something prog-rock or fusion jazz like. thanks!

  • @thewhiteafrican I would start with One Size Fits All. Very proggish album with impossible time signatures, etc..

  • @wardka thanks!! will do! just got Hot Rats recently. great stuff

  • @thewhiteafrican 'Over Night Sensation' and 'Apostrophe'

  • @thewhiteafrican Apostrophe , Over Night Sensation , Roxy and Elsewhere

  • @thewhiteafrican "the grand wazoo" is great to. the song "blessed relief" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i've ever heard

  • @superkulmedkniv25 thanks! checking it out right now

  • @superkulmedkniv25 Yes! Blessed Relief is one of the nicest original jazz compositions I've ever heard. It's up there with Davis and other famous JAZZ composers, and it's FZ. I love Zappa. Do yourself a favor and go buy/download Hot Rats, Waka Jawaka, The Grand Wazoo, Apostraphe, Overnite Sensation, Zoot Allures, Shut Up n Play Yer Guitar, Sheik Yerbouti... pretty much everything he did in the 1970's.

  • when mr. cavett was asking him about his daughter's name I wonder if it occured to frank to point out that his name was "dick".

  • 4:08 That's a very good quest. to ask Zappa. I was thinking the same thing

  • "They have their job to do and I have mine, then just let it slide".

  • he wants to talk about don. but they were fighting so he didnt want to

  • The internet is dismantling the evil Zionist propaganda machine...thanks Frank for the insight.....

  • @kevinherbert Look, this kind of censorship and intimidation that Zappa talks about, pitifully (and laughably) weak as it was from the ADL is very much alive and effectual for CAIR and their anti-Jewish Muslim allies.

    Islam=anti-Jewish

  • @horsie111 : you're confusing anti Zionist with with anti Jewish. People around the globe generally aren't anti-Jewish any more than they're anti Catholic or anti Protestant. or anti Bhuddist

  • This is the second interview I've seen Dick Cavett do. I like his style.

  • "how do you tell yourself from the next one?" LMAO!!!

    claaaaaaaaasssss!!!

    RIP Frankie..we miss you

  • ADL = OWNED

    THANKS FRANK

  • Great clip. Thanks for posting.

  • dick looks like woody (harrelson) in this.

  • Frank just cuts to the chase about everything.

    Why dont the natives LISTEN?

  • alright....

  • Yeah, I saw her on The Mighty Boosh and I did find myself titillated

  • Yeah, that's why everybody wanted to be on the show.

  • time to deport the ADL!!!

  • No, that would be too good for them. And it wouldn't make the world a better place. They would pull the same crap somewhere else or finance our enemies. We need to try them for treason or just bring a rope.

  • "Who do you fnd weird Frank?" - LOL

  • I think your a weirdo "inventiontension "

  • i love the meeting story, playin' another dood's drums is like strokin' a man's woman.

you just don't DO it. even if it IS your show.

  • An example of how perceptive and intelligent an interviewer Cavett was/is.

  • @Bass5el Yeah, he's smart cuz he lets FZ do most of the talking ;-)

  • @Bass5el Yeah I don't know much about Dick Cavett but he seems to have a pretty wide vocabulary, be pretty respectful and listen very well.
