@ BukkakeSniper no offence but plz dont go out there...im from the south side and its pretty dangerous...like they say if u ait from the ghetto dont come to the f@ckin ghetto...just some advise stay safe though!!
please tell me, how dangerous is the south side when you get to 75th street? my friends and I have always wanted to go to a restaurant down there, but we're just scrawny white dudes
@BukkakeSniper You must be going to Army & Lou's;) Normally, this would be a snap. Red Line to 79th St. and get on the easbound #75 bus.
But after a Chicago cop (one of the Mayor's security detail) got shot to death a few days ago in front of his house in that neighborhood, IN UNIFORM, while he was wiping down his new car, I could not, in good conscience, tell you to take the CTA. DRIVE, and for God's sake, keep your wits about you. Even longtime residents are scared.
@kellyilla "Attention passengers, attention passengers, this train will run express to 79th St. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for riding the CTA" :D And now they want us to sit New York style, facing the aisle. Yeech!
I remember going to college at UIC, having to take the red line to Jackson Blvd and then transferring to the Blue Line. Does anyone remember this old man playing the congos in the hallway tunnels at that transfer spot?
We rode this line while on vacation to Chicago. Got off at 35th to get some snaps of Comiskey Park. Guy tried to sell us unsurance on the platform, lol.
Thanks for all the clips of our favourite city. Greetins from Scotland!
Dumb question: Has the major rebuliding of the Ryan expressway finished yet as of May 2008? I dont live in Chicago so keep that in mind.
By way great job artistmac with the clips of the CTA. I was last in Chicago in 2003 and rode that same section of the Red line towards 95th and back. Thanks
It's finally done -- work was completed last fall; doesn't seem to have cut down on the accidents at the 47th St. curve, though. The IDOT tow trucks are as busy as ever. Watch my two videos of accidents, one a rollover, that happened there.
A moment of silence for the Douglas branch of the Blue Line, which has been kissed off in favor of the Pink Line, which travels the same route(mostly). But if you rode the Douglas and you got off at the Med Center, Racine and Halsted stations, you'll now have to get off at Polk and take the bus. Progress:-(
The trouble with that philosophy is, without public transit in both the city and suburbs, car and truck traffic would be even more gridlocked than it is now. I'm also a car owner, and I sure felt like a loser yesterday when I was crawling up the Kennedy Expressway in stop-and-go traffic while nearly empty Blue Line O'Hare trains sailed past me in the median. I'd much rather have been on that train, if I hadn't been going to get a brake job and a tune-up.
man now the train goes real slow through there..

I do. I would see him sometimes in the tunnel or occasionally on State str. Downtown.

I like riding the red line on the south side. It is so much faster than on the north side.

Public Transit is for losers period
mkproject 4 years ago
Losers who want to avoid high gas prices and congested roads? Public transit is very convenient. What an ignorant remark.

Well that's not good about the Red Line slower than expressway traffic.
