I m brazilian too, and this song touched me so deep inside!!! I felt at home!Couldn t sit still! I like Africa, its people, its music and its beauty. Used to fly to Dakar, Senegal, many times in the 70s(as a stewardess) and I always felt this huge beautiful country is unique, no matter the poverty. Brazil has the same problems and yet we got a lot of nice things to share with other people wherever they come from. Beautiful work, thanks for the upload. I m teareyed. Happy New Year!
Thanks for posting these vids! They make me believe that we will make it and soon I hope to return home. I look forward to your next postings. Greetings from L.A.!
I worked as a missionary in South Africa from 1996-1998 and spent a number of months working in Soweto. This video reminds me of some very wonderful times.
I was there long before YouTube or even before the internet. When I left I assumed I would never be able to see these places again, and it left me so heavy hearted. I still hope to return someday, but for now these videos are enough.
those who ever talk bad about SWT, they don't know what to say about it anyway...
I want to support what agree and disagree with jabzulani, maethi, you shoul stop showing these video, amean how will our dudes know our place man... personally 'm in Nairobi, Kenya, man most of my freinds want to come down there for greener pastures and i think we need to encourage people that they can also make it like us down there..., but anyawy, anyhow, lifeis so far so good...
come on man, what do you mean, it beautiful man, i feel the same, but let us allow this guyz to feed us with what we miss, pap n vleis, maala le mogodu...
I'm in the states at the moment, been here for 2 years. And its sooooo expensive to go home I just wanna get the degree so I can get back home asap. what you doing in Nairobi Karen? I might be heading there in December though Im just tring to to save all I earn from work.
Soweto's a great place to visit! We had so much fun there! It has a wonderful atmosphere -- friendly people, great bars and restaurants, and loads of art, museums and history.
We stayed a few nights, got walking tours during the day and drank all night in some good shebeens! Everything worked out and it was very safe.
It's a shame the media paints Soweto the way it does. Sure, there are still poor areas but it's not all like that - thanks for showing everyone the real deal!
ha ha, yeah we rob and kill tourists... i robbed & killed two tourists yesterday, didn't rape anyone though (i dont rape on sundays as its my day of meditation!!!) LOL!!
i understand, yes there's a big crime problem. but criminals dont target tourists alone. the only peculiar thing about SA crime is its extreme violence, which mirrors our history.
another thing is we r one of the few contries in which criminal activities that happen in major cities make intl headlines. its also a political thing (black gov is failing). but yes, it is a major problem.
the govt is failing because they let whote people own their own resources. The black politicians made the mistake of focusing on ending Aparthied and not enough of claiming their resources.
well yes, its a sad fact. i watched a documentary called "Apartheid did not die" by John Pilger it highlights the point you made. Racist farmers are treated like royalty. Its sickening...
The reason SA and/or Africa as a whole is shown in a negative (not withstanding that we do have issues), is to keep those who don't know any better away. The same people who are warning you away have houses, businesses and land in SA. They live well when they are there. The import/export biz. in SA and sub sahara is staggering, especially since AGOA was put in place under the Clinton administration. The more they keep everyone else away, the more they have for themselves.
Thank you so much! God, I am so tired of seeing images that do not do Soweto any justice. Why is the world so obsessed with negative images of South Africa or Africa in general? What purpose does this serve to Westeners? I keep on wondering why their media feel that there is a need to feed the masses this aspect? It makes one think doesn't it?
