From here, it looks like you have your own portable food storage supply already fixed up... If the SHTF then it may be that the Mormon church may end up in the ascendency, with many of the members surviving, through advance planning.
I am not a Mormon, but I have looked at their system of organization. With their system, you could start the 'Church of the Holy Teapot' and it would be just as effective. Fear is a big business. Being prepared will reduce that fear, but you have use your head and do the research. You have to also be careful who you tell about your prepping. The common joke is 'if the shtf, remember where the Mormons live and go for theirs'. Be careful though, because they are armed.

I was mormon, My family still is. My mother was tight on money while me father was deployed in Iraq, She gave about an hours time dry packaging food. She'd come back with pounds of canned good, Alot of flour, Several bags of sugar, 2 or 3 large bags of rice, and some other stuff such as Peanut butter [Oil is on top you have to mix it] or BBQ Sauce, etc.

I tryed using the hand warmers in my rice in mylar bags it didnt take the oxyg out. The warmers were good and there were no leaks in the mylar that i could tell. Just wandered what went wrong. Is there a dif between activating them and not i tryed both ways to c which worked because you never said. Before i sealed the bag i got out as much air as i possibly could . Got any ideas what went wrong? Thanks

If you feel uncomfortable about coming in to a strange place, ask for the secretary that has her office across from the restrooms. We now accept cash, check or credit card. If paying by check, please make check out to Home Storage Center and wait to fill in amount at time of checkout. No appointment necessary on Tue/Wed and must be there by 10:45am. Thur/Sat by appt only!

I am not a Mormon, but I have looked at their system of organization. With their system, you could start the 'Church of the Holy Teapot' and it would be just as effective. Fear is a big business. Being prepared will reduce that fear, but you have use your head and do the research. You have to also be careful who you tell about your prepping. The common joke is 'if the shtf, remember where the Mormons live and go for theirs'. Be careful though, because they are armed.

That's great info; I live in a rural area but we have a Mormon tabernacle only about 15 miles away. I am not Mormon but I grew up with them. They are great neighbors and friends. They are great when you wan to get in shape and lay off the drink and to get active. They are smart, good with business and they make the whole community better off economically and hold down the crime rate.
They get hate from the left (they caricature them as religious zealots) and the right (evangelicals do not consider them Christians). What a shame, to discount such good people.

dont forget about your fire extiguishers. just like most things, all the good stuff will settle to the bottom after awhile. grabem' up once every six months and shake till your sick of it. while it's in your hand. check all the hardware, gauges,etc.. then go back to forgetting about it. personally, i'd do it on a holiday. [easy to remember]

I was mormon, My family still is. My mother was tight on money while me father was deployed in Iraq, She gave about an hours time dry packaging food. She'd come back with pounds of canned good, Alot of flour, Several bags of sugar, 2 or 3 large bags of rice, and some other stuff such as Peanut butter [Oil is on top you have to mix it] or BBQ Sauce, etc.

I tryed using the hand warmers in my rice in mylar bags it didnt take the oxyg out. The warmers were good and there were no leaks in the mylar that i could tell. Just wandered what went wrong. Is there a dif between activating them and not i tryed both ways to c which worked because you never said. Before i sealed the bag i got out as much air as i possibly could . Got any ideas what went wrong? Thanks

If you feel uncomfortable about coming in to a strange place, ask for the secretary that has her office across from the restrooms. We now accept cash, check or credit card. If paying by check, please make check out to Home Storage Center and wait to fill in amount at time of checkout. No appointment necessary on Tue/Wed and must be there by 10:45am. Thur/Sat by appt only!
