it seemed the speakers loosened up once wet and got more bass, seen it happen before... only cheap speakers do, good ones dont have to loosen to sound okay
My older brother used to have that same exact model too. He got it for Xmas back in 1991 and a year after that, he was constantly pounding on it really hard because the right speaker keep intermittent. Another year later, he slammed it on the patio.
I found something even beter in the trash today! A YORX stereo with the crap speakers and everything. You can guess what I did, though I kept the speakers.
Last year I found a 1985 Yorx clock mini stereo with cassette and it worx perfect although the recording system is DC bias, but doesn't sound too bad. I'm not destroying though.
Wooo yeah! Play that funky music! Perfect music for this torture! I can't believe that thing is working in the shower! Hmm.. Maybe it would make a good shower radio?
One older brother's had that same exact SD. He got it for Xmas of 1991, but it crapped out less than 2 years. The right speaker kept on intermitting that my bro was constantly punching it til it really crapped out. When he was through with it, he smashed it on the patio.
I did this by accident when I was a kid, using my "water resistant" Panasonic walkman. I was playing a tape, and it started slippimg, then it started making noises like that.
Neat how long it lasted in there! After it dries it might work again, could you try that out? Also, for doing stuff like this, please keep it to these newer cheaper items. I don't want to be seeing one of a vintage tape recorder being destroyed!
lol first view first comment, nice boombox and man that thing is built like a tank its been in there for like what 5 mins and its still playing, can i ask you why you did this to this radio, just curious
Youtuber TheOriginalHDchannel did the same w/ vacuum cleaners and it pumps out a good amount of water.

I can't believe it lasted that long in the shower. The sounds it was making while it was going underwater sounded like an atari.

why did'nt you sell it on ebay or craigslist
it did last a long time with it being in the water

I'm cleaning up and cleaning out. It is not worth the money to even post on eBay. This isn't a vintage radio either.

I think it would have been more fun if you cracked it open and remove the power transformer and just run 120 VAC to the board

Haha, that was awesome!

I would never dream of doing that to a vintage tape recorder! I know exactly how you feel.

you have to make it soapy water. water needs the saop to allow it to more effectivly conduct electricity and destroy stuff!
