Bit of an unfair test. They don't use a standard gallardo they use the top of the range Superleggera but the Ducati is a base 1098. At the end of the day the full 1098 BSB bike costs less than the lambo just showing how much performance you get for your money.

Rossi's M1 would be a fun little toy to pit up against it? The truth is 4 wheels will always be better than 2 for racing. As a biker and dispatch rider I got an R1, and a CBF500 for work. I am not siding with cars at all. But although they get better grip and conering speeds I think that bikes need more skill, more feel and there are a lot less warnings. Get out of shape in the corner on a bike and you don't get much chance to save it. cars get slide and warning a plenty of chance to save
If you look at ptw ratio the bike has a massive advantage and if you take the back of of the car in the corners to protect the bike rider then i really think the car on a timed lap would be quicker than the bike and thats with a lower ptw ratio.that fact alone prove's that 4 wheels are better than 2
look u can put a buggati veyron up against a cbr 900 , gsxr 750 etc and the bike will destroy it simple on the real road a car woldnt have a chance while ur cbr fireblade slices through traffic like a hot knife on butter deal with it !

Ok, the truth, put the same engine in a kart as you have in the bike so it has basically the same power to weight ratio and the kart will piss it, especially on a tight track, lower centre of gravity and FOUR patches of rubber on the road. Comparing these two vehicles in the vidoe is a total mismatch!!!!

Dude, i was riding Ducati 998 (2006) powerfull bike with hard handling, but it's like beer can! Engine sounds like it's full of bolts, seat is so tight and uncomfortable, so i have no idea how owner rides it! Also ducati's price is not one of the cheapest for it's quality! I drived Honda 1000RR and Yamaha R1(2005), that 2 bikes are much better tho in handling, braking and smooth riding, engine acts much more predictable and provides smooth, but fast ride...
The ducati might win on lean angle but no way it has more power then the cbr1000rr or any other jap bikes. They are 4-cylinders and the ducati is only 2. So it doesnt have the power of the jap 4.
The 1098s with open termis has done the fastest ever 1/4 mile time against 1000 fours as a standard production bike. 9.79 seconds @147.2 mph. It dont have the most power but its the way it makes the power and the grip allowing the rider to use more of it more of the time. Ive rode one and they are awsome. The 1098r(race version) would kill the 1L4's(its also got air restrictors on it). yes its bigger cc but its a twin and its doing good in the slower tracks against the 1L4. Desmosecirr is fast.

The difference between all 1000 RR bikes is marginal, and only a pro racer on the track could see it. 98% of riders would never pust it to the absolute max on the road anyway so it basicaly comes down to looks, ergonomics, and price.
The new breed of 1000cc sports bikes such as the GSXR1000,ZX10,Fireblade and R1 are alot faster than the busa! The 1098 is quick for a twin but its slow compared to the above mentiond bike's
I would like to see a competition between a ducati and a ariel atom. That would be more interesting. The Atom is way cheaper than the lamborghini and it is nearly as useless in normal life as a bike.
bikes are toys not work horses (like cars) as is an atom and speaking as some one who has done just what you suggest i can tell you how it would go on the straight sections the car would never keep up and in the bends it would (if it could get back past) leave the bike for dead. But in the real world theres traffic and a bike can beat the with ease.
watch the EVO car magazine atom track test at cadwell park circuit. Best they could do is a 1.40 lap A standard aprilia 250 road bike will do 1.35 on road legal rubber. Fact.

Tiff is a very accomplished driver though. Just look up Tiff Needell and look at his past history of racing cars. He was even in F1 at one point.

The Ducati is one of the slowest super bikes. They should have used a GSXR1000 or a ZX10 but I guess 5th gear didnt want to embarass the car to much.

It's a racetrack. Watch a race, any race, and they tend to get fairly close to each other...
