It's the same camera. It's called the 1000d in England, the rebel xs in America, I believe the "Kiss j" or something like that in Japan. Either way, it's all just different names for the same model.

Nope - most Canon officials pronounce is Ee-ose. There's no standard way of pronouncing it, but I've heard very few people in the photography world pronounce each letter separately.

That will depend on what you want to use it for, and also what camera you generally like the feel of. Nikons do tend to have a more solid build quality than canons, however both are good in terms of performance. Rather than buy a camera online t I would go to a good camera store and try it out first.

You should buy the 1000D, because Canon and Nikon is the companies selling the best DSLR. And the 1000D is a really good camera, and doesn't cost that much.. And for beginners, it's also a really good camera.

That's absolutely not true. I'm an avid photographer and so is my father. My aunt is a professional photographer who works/ lives in India. I researched this camera and its specifications extensively before I bought it. I do not care about the looks, that is the last thing I'm concerned about.

nice unboxing, but one thing that i notice is that the box is much more bad packed then a nikon boxes is. Like the lens for example, in a nikon box it's in a seperaty smaller box and all the accessories to have their own litle box, just thinking of the damage that could be done by the battery and the charger if thay are lying next to the lens.

Yep, I opened mine on Christmas and didn't have to charge it until New Years day, after taking about 8GB worth of shots :) Charge time it really quick too, like 2-3 hours for a full charge. I'm really impressed!
