Gosh this gives me chills - Joe is indeed a prophet. This is just JAMMIN. LOVE LOVE IT. I second the call - they should release this on CD. I love this!!
I'm really sad today. I lost someone that I really loved to cancer last night. This song gives me a little joy. Played really fucking loud. Like annoy the neighbors loud. I don't know why but it's always made me feel good. Bless you Joe and bless you Ruby.
@cabronte sorry about that!! I really was aiming for the thumbs up. I wish they had a reverse and correct feature in this thing. I am very sorry for your loss.
Todos los que flipais con Manu Chao, por favor, escuchad esto para ver de donde viene su estilo. Es que en mi opinion el Strummer se lo come y Manu no deja de ser un principiante a su lado.
joe was trying different things in the studio but live he always had a hand full of clash songs to do...one thing is he was doing more of the covers that the clash had done with a few strummer/jones songs in there a well....he did rudi cant fail which i never saw or heard the clash attempt to do live themselves thats a shame its such a great tune
for anyone who thinks the mascaleros was a platform for joe to keep living the clash, his response to the guy who asks for whit riot at the begining says it all. i think this is as good as anything the clash did. check out the performance at the cambridge folk festival. its something else. R.I.P. joe
I just looked at The Future is Unwritten. His artwork is used extensively in it. I thought of Lennon's artwork too...their sketches are so very similar. But I always thought he was the next Lennon anyway.
if your thinking of the artwork like when 101'ers are playing in d background and there is pictures of them, i hate to say it, but thats not his work.
Ahh...so I stand corrected. I guess I was assuming, but he did go to art school, and I've seen a few sketches, so I thought that was his stuff. Apologies!
yeah, he was a great artist in all terms, musical, art, literature. if you get the chance, read Redemption Song, the life of Joe Strummer, a great book and so factual and interesting!
manic depressive? please explain. in the "wilderness years" okay but everybody i think goes through those times. i dont think he was ever "manic", he thought too much for that.
these live versions are much better than the Cds they should bring the bridgwater gig out on CD. if they are watching..all the notes he hits with his voices are hit with so much more feeling than the CDs and the musicians are really rocking.
Great stuff! Shows Joe was making great music up until the end. Just like all The Clash albums I own I play this CD really loud. Thanks for this. I never saw Joe live but this gives me a taste.
Soulman for sure. Wise, passionate, real, love it.
