This movie was good i agree, but they could have worked on the fishmen and dagon. I mean dagon looked like cthulhu in this movie, and the fishmen were not even fishmen.
I mean not every single creature in innsmouth were star spawns of cthulhu.
Fav'd. Thanks for uploading the song, I thought it was beautiful when I first heard it and went to see if I could find it after finishing the movie.
Also the movie is great. I was a bit hesitant watching it cause the title is misleading (not based on the short story but Shadow over Innsmouth) and cause Lovecraft is one of my favorite authors yet sadly a lot of the film adaptations for his work suck. However, I think this movie captures the "atmosphere" in the book brilliantly. I reccomend it.
Makes me sick that of all of the H.P. Lovecraft stories adapted to film there are only a FEW good ones such as 'Re-Animator,' 'Dagon,' The Unnamable,' that film with Chris Sarandon & Jane Sibbet but the rest? So much rich material getting low budget amateurish treatment.
Look at the overall quality of Stephen King's adaptations to film.
At least the 'Re-Animator' and 'Dagon' soundtracks are awesome.
"We shall swim out to that brooding reef in the sea and dive down through black abysses to Cyclopean and many columned Y'hanthlei, and in the lair of the Deep Ones we shall dwell amidst wonder and glory forever."
Very beautiful, surreal and mysterious. I'm kind of creeped out by this though. The woman singing sounds almost identical to a girl that's a close friend of mine who I'm absolutely crazy about (she's a singer)...my mind's playin' tricks on me...
this song makes my cry first time i herd it i was 15 ,,, i for got all about it i watch this movie and i saw last sat day i was like dam i havent seen this movie in 3 years .. win the ending came up i her the music my eyes opened and i cried............. for some reason this song gets to me.....
most of those movie posters are cheesy, trashy, and suck and don't do this great film any justice or even relay the spirit of the film. you would think its about crazy ppl with big jaws running around. Not even!!
i loved this movie the first moment i started watching it and the music was awsome this movie is so good i wish they would make a second movie and i could be called "The Children of Dagon" it would blow up at the box office who agrees with me
Lovecraftian horrors are amoral, not evil. August Derleth made them evil elementals.
Adaptations or imitations tend to dwell more upon the monster aspect of the horror, which I don't like. Although I did buy the film Dagon, I quite enjoy it!
Also, if you are looking for a blog, try out LiveJournal. I have one, it's really good. It's free, simple and doesn't infest your computer with hideous viruses. I should know, I have dead basic anti-virus software!
@binarynightmare No that's the name of the book. Bloch write it at 1978 -The Greek version i had it also contains August Derleth's novel "Niarlathotep" - I search in google and if im right, thats the original name of the book because in some books the older Greek versions have different names caused from bad translation.

Added to favs.
To the below posters, Dagon was a VERY well done adaptation (been reading Lovecraft since the 80's).
Another good adaption (from a fan base film) is: The Call of Cthulhu
And additionally, Guillermo Del Toro is doing 'At the Mountains of Madness'. Google some of the news (same director that did Pan's Labyrinth).

Beautiful music fabulous film and I agree with MrWormLock. Stuart Gordon is an underatted genius.
He should adapt more Lovecraft.

attention, filmmakers !
I just recalled some vital Lovecraftian plot devices which were rarely explored in adaptations/imitations.
1. the Eldritch Horror causes panic/madness even while it's ASLEEP and hidden.
2. biologies/designs that are not supposed to work, but they do ( in a disturbing way ) !
3. reality affected/created by dreams of various beings
4. random,amoral reincarnation
5. miscegenation and decay
( K, should b postin this on a blog but I don't have one yet XD Can someone help ? )

You are very right in your explanantion.
Lovecraftian horrors are amoral, not evil. August Derleth made them evil elementals.

@binarynightmare and Robert Bloch in "strange eaons"
Eyehategod213gr 2 years ago
Really?
I haven't read that one - I usually tend to stick to Lovecraft's stuff. What's it about?
binarynightmare 2 years ago
@binarynightmare it's also from "Cthulhu mythology" Read it! you will love it! my English are not so good to explain more :(
Eyehategod213gr 2 years ago
@Eyehategod213gr
Ah, no worries! Is that a seperate book, of do you mean the Cthulhu Mythos itself? Like, all the stories?
