  • If i ever seen this guy busking in town i'd throw my wallet and phone in his hat, then proceed to use my key to hack out a kidney, sell it on the black market and donate the proceeds. Obscenely decent performance.

  • FANTASTIC

  • Imposible no comenzar a enamorarse Roland Dyens!!!!

  • Chopin with a Spanish accent. Polish flamenco. Incredible.

  • Who the hell disliked this... and why? You could arrange and play better?

  • Majestueux,impressionnant de beauté.

  • Just made my day! Perfect!!

  • So beautifull that you can feel it.

  • Magnifique, arrangé à la perfection !

  • INCREIBLE !!! yo toco la guitarra y eso es realmente dificil...pondre un boton de me gusta porque no hay uno de ME ENCANTA

  • OMFG! This guy is a god!

  • Chopin's music is amazing. The only thing more amazing is to be able to play it on guitar. xx

  • This is the meaning of interpretation. The way he adapts this piano piece for guitar is amazing. What a beautiful piece.

  • DIVINE !!!! DIVINO !!!!

  • anyone knows where can i find the notes? pls reply

  • @robbie56shade You can't get them for free. You have to buy his collection of arrangements called 'mes arrangements à l'amiable'.

  • @SingHouse

And bloody well worth the money for a genius like this. It hurts me to see the money these people get (although it's plenty) compared to guys like idk... justin bieber..

  • I simply adore this guy. Amazing!!!

  • The first note really seemed like a piano. Perfect interpretation and arrangement

  • wow...... this guy has everything right. the colors are beautiful. wow... im going to copy how to play the piano for this piece this way. ive found what ive been looking for. thank you!!!

  • Fantastic transcription. It is played with great sensitivity. Too bad the tempo is so slow. A waltz should be just a little faster than that.

  • Dyens really 'gets' Chopin... no doubt about that.

  • Very beautiful.....Bravo Roland Dyens

  • simplemente bello, Muchas Gracias Roland Dyens

  • Should Mr Dyens not pay homage to Barrios Mangore?

This is uncannily similar to Choro Du Saudade.

  • Flawless victory

  • Simply incomparable!

To those asking him to "share" sheets, he already does that: It's called selling his arrangements( his work) through a publisher.Unless you can "volunteer" to go and buy his clothes, pay his rent, buy and cook his food, and transport him around, I suggest you simply "buy" his arrangements. So grow up please.

  • OMG hes Emmett Lathrop Brown! The scientist from back to the future!!!

  • Fantastic.....

  • The only reason i see for someone to dislike this piece is because it doesn't come in better quality. :(

  • Nice...learning it now off this clip (first heard Charlie Byrd's recording of this way back in the(H.S. days ;) on an old LP...(that was a stunning recording)..great post and performance here.Love your tone.

  • excellent!

  • excellent!

  • this is blooming wonderful... I love to find fantastic transcriptions and interpretations of these sorts of classics that I haven't even heard on piano before.. it transcribes very well...

  • Amazing!!! Bravo!! would be great if you can share the sheets, would you? n______n

    Sheets Please n_________n

  • @sharingan41 Share? He sells his arrangements.

  • @simonshusse nvm i got it actually from another videoguy playing the same : D!

  • wow!!!!

  • What exquisite tone and sublime musicianship!

  • arrangiatore formidabile, e compositore unico........dal pisello immenso....... I <3 ROLAND DYENZ

  • I didn't expect that I would like the guitar version way much better than the piano one.. never thought this can sound so good ..

  • Didn't know, that it would be possible to play this on a guitar, I just know the piano version.

In that case: Much respect, great playing!

  • Fantastic guitarrist! Just does not words...

  • Bravo!!!

  • Beautiful playing

  • Wonderful performance !

  • do you have valse des loges video??

tienes el video de valse des loges??

  • is it possible to find the score or tab for this arrangement?

  • @moonunitenar No tab. It would be near impossible to do so. Read music, it's more fun. You can find the arrangement pretty much anywhere. Look for "Mes Arrangements a l'amiable." It's expensive, but it also has nine pieces (about 20 to 25 pages) worth of music so it's worth it.

  • @GuitaristConnor I fail to see how it would be impossible to tab, but thanks for the suggestion :)

  • @moonunitenar You don't know what the score looks like haha. Once you see it, you'll understand why I said it. Tab is not an efficient way of doing things in the first place and with the extra graphical devices that Dyens' uses in his score, forget tab.

  • @GuitaristConnor Not to be polemic about the subject. But it is possible to write and read it on tab. All lute music is written on tab. Weiss wrote many complex pieces on tab, so I don´t see how this couldn´t be written in tablature.

  • @stefushaasus It'd be extremely difficult. There are technical symbols such as stopping the bass with the side of the thumb, protamentos, glissandos, and many other things that wouldn't translate to tab very well. I didn't say it couldn't be done, but it'd be very hard to tab some of the markings that are in the score.

I don't mean to argue or anything, but I just think that tab shouldn't be used for such complex transcriptions. My two cents have been contributed :).

  • Admirarmente!!! Perfectamente!!! It's a real Chopin! It is very possible that he himself used to play this waltz right in this way, with such accents and shades. Thanks to the performer! I liked it very much!

  • Absolument magnifique, j'en suis toute ébaubie.... Bravo !

  • maestro de maestros tiene tecnica y limpiesa sos un papi!!

  • Roland Dyens est un guitariste extraordinaire par ses interpretations arrangements et compositions à la fois classique et d'une grande modernité .

  • Beautifully played and easily the best guitar version on U Tube.

  • Brilliant!! Thank you for elevating my spirit!!

    Alexis Acosta

  • fome la guitarra, no hay como el piano =)

  • daytonm, are you kidding yourself? Piano does not come close to the depth of classical guitar with the exception of may be Chopin Nocturnes. Guitar is simply a more beautiful and a superior instrument.

  • You forgot to add how chocolate ice cream flavour is simply superior in taste to vanilla and if people feel different they're probably cretins kidding themselves.

  • I agree. However, if you throw some strawberries on top of the vanilla, it makes chocolate seem ghetto.

  • Piano still kicks a**, but this is really nice...

  • Brilliant.

  • Superb Roland. I´ve fallen in love with your plaing ever since I first heard Citrons Doux album.

  • superbe !! Dyens is a genious

  • Simplemente Majestuoso!!!

  • Beautiful playing. I really enjoyed listening to this interpretation

  • พี่เทพ..

  • increible!!!no pensaba que pudiera quedar tan bello interpretado en la guitarra!!!

  • @xparalle todo queda bien en guitarra; solo hay que encontrar las manos adecuadas... :D

  • please someone send me the music sheet for this arrangement!!

  • @larensflarens yo tengo un arreglo para guitarra de "Maitinin "bastante aceptable. si lo quieres enviame el mail a mi post.

  • Excellent !!!

  • Magnifique!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NO WAY! WOW!

  • i play this on piano .its exciting to see it performed on guitar..nice..

  • its F#BDGBE

  • Unbelievable. Is he using standard tuning?

  • beautiful song

  • Lindo, gostoso de ouvir..........Maria Helena de Santo André, S.P...........Brasil

  • Bravo!

  • He renders this piece perfectly. I adore all of Chopin's stuff; and Dyens' interpretaions.

  • Chopin debe estar bailando en su tumba

    ... que hermoso arreglo

    Bravo

  • Trés joli. MERCI

  • where i found this sheet music for download ?

  • have you found the actual sheet music? if so PLZ tell me where. this is SUCH an AWESOME piece!!!

  • Fantastic how this melancholic "piano-valse" fits to guitar (or how fine you made it fitting). Many thanks for posting it.

  • i love it!

i actually play this on clarinet right now, it helps a lot .

  • search for fabien courtois tapping version. awesome too

  • ?????????It's a classical guitar without any mic in it......but i'm sure that a guitar like that wouldn't end up in unexperienced hands!

    Thank you maestro!

  • no he is not playing electro acoustic, and guess what i ve seen some pro playing electro acoustic....pay more attention kid!

  • haha indeed. At the beginning the shadow of his right leg looks kinda like something coming out of the side. Didn't think someone of his stature would have done that

  • haha

  • that guitar is made by olivier fanton one of the best luthiers ever, soooooo someone of his stature would sure play a guitar like that!

  • Just look at the guitar keys, this is NOT a acoustic this is a classic guitar.

  • lol...oh yea the classical guitar is acoustic isnt it, but first u should know what the word acoustic means! And obviously the keys has nothing to do with it...im just wondering why u comment on smthng you dont know.

  • I've learned that acoustic is usally bigger, and ussually has metal strings(this one does not). But if you got better experience on guitars you could explain me the differrence, beacuse all my knowledge about guitars comes from self-learning.

  • Basically acoustic can be classical(nylon stringed) or steel-stringed...but there are several types. The design the size or the construction are quite deverse. They are called acoustic because there is no electric amplification used to increase the loudness of the sound.

    cheers

  • Ok, thanks for the information. I got confused beacuse when i'm trying to buy nylon strings i just tell i wan't strings for a classic guitar(ok, i could tell i wan't nylon's)and when I want to buy steel strings,I say I wan't strings for the acoustic, and that's the cause of my mistake. So thanks again and have a nice day.

  • Reading difficulties, dyslexia?"Basically acoustic can be classical(nylon stringed) or steel-stringed...;The design the size or the CONSTRUCTION are quite deverse..."

  • There most definitly is a difference. I own both an acoustic and a classical and the E,B,G strings on a classical have a much different thicker sort of tone.

  • Absolutamente Brillante..

  • maestroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Que maestria y que tecnica tan perfecta! Felicitaciones!

  • wow!!!!!!! amzing

  • chopin rules

  • Fantastic !

  • BRAVO !!!

  • anyone know where i can find the transcription? tab or music??

  • This, as well, is the film music of "The Lover" /

    w. Jane March, when she left Vietnam on board of a steam ship after the end of her love story.

  • this music is to die for!

  • Awsome!

  • It's so beautiful....

  • You won't believe it but I since bought me an electric piano so I can try the original. It's not all that terribly hard... even though I haven't touched a piano in years. YouTube rules (to say nothihg of maestro Dyens).

  • if only I could find notes for this version :\

  • This is a great piece of a great composer, amazingly transcribed for the guitar by a unique artist and all you could say is "solo guitar"?

  • i play this on the piano.

    and wow, this sounds amazing.

  • Absolutely brilliant! And ridiculously hard to play :P

  • Nice transcription. Roland is a genius, he plays naturally and the music flows from his inner guts. Do you mind you telling the name of the Luthier of this guitar?

  • It's a guitar by Olivier Fanton D'Andon, a French master guitar maker, somewhere in Provence. It's an awesome instrument of immense power and beauty, in sound and appearance.

  • I preffer the piano but it sounds perfect

  • É impressionante o som que esse cara tira do instrumento - sem nenhum ruído ou trastejamento, e com extrema leveza, sem agredir o violão!

  • se fijaron que tenia otra afinacion ?

  • wow wow wow!!!! i already saw a guiter version for this waltz but it didn't soun anything like that...

does anyone have notes of this version??

    please...

  • very good i like chopin

  • beautiful......

  • i crap my pants every time i watch this

  • what?

  • lol

  • I bet u do

  • beautiful

  • beautiful

  • Does anyone know where I can find the guitar tab for this?

  • Przepięknie !

  • very good a Fav!

  • I just sat through, one of his master class, and saw him perform in my town. He is simply amazing! Truly one of the greats!

  • Does anybory have this tab. On this version, for only one guitar... I only found it for 3 guitars!

    He´s just amazing!

  • Use this opportunity to learn music notation. It's not that hard, kind of like reading, hard at first, but if you keep doing it it becomes very natural. This piece isn't hard, even on the piano, but especially when reduced for the guitar.

  • This piece is not that hard? Have you played it? If so please post video.

  • haha, agree. I first encountered this piece when I was sampling that Mozart Music Notation software, as it was posted as one of the sample pieces. I immediately went and found a copy of the transcription of this, and thinking it looked pretty easy, sat down to play it...

Man, there's so many little subtle nuances that bring the life and "mystery" to this piece that I just could not replicate. Hats off to anyone who can play this with this kind of emotion! :D

  • holy shit. classical piano on guitar. i love you

  • C'est de la TRES GRANDE CLASSE . Les basses sonnent comme si c'etait du violoncelle; la crème de la crème 5 ***** of course!

  • Still here! To quit smoking was easier! :-)

  • Why can't I buy this DVD anywhere in the US? WTF?

  • I'm still here, it's an addiction. Btw, is there any way to grab a video off of YouTube?

  • Download FireFox and install the plugin "DownloadHelper"...

  • Thanks! Will try. You mean it can somehow grab a video from here?

  • I got it! Exactly what I wanted; thanks, KVron.

  • Do you have any idea, if this video, can be burned on a DVD or other media, so that it can be transferred to another PC, or even CD-player?

  • Of course it can, why not, it's just a file.
