if coke decided to do this.. it would be an oober smart move.....i agree there will be red tape....but if they can be a soft drink company, and save lives..imagine the empire they could build....
Great idea !! you know what? it's exactly as you say, i do treking and where ever you go there is a Cola, even empty but it's there, then.....so great idea!!!
Please CEOs, help others as you'll make yourself !!
(If you are a CEO of other company take advantage to Cola join this idea and make you social marketing ready.)
Surely this is going to lead to whole third world countires consuming mass amounts of coca cola, something which is good for the human body.
It sounds suspiciously like the nestle powdered milk campaign which ended in the Nestle boycott back in 1977.
I know that the idea is not selling the coke itself, but is this really what the world needs? a tiny bit of aid and a double in the production of coca cola?
@Marionnetje1967 I agree it could be but we are focussing on Coca-Cola to prove the concept. Once we've done that ;-) others will be intersted I think.
Now you can see how a small and simple idea has a brilliant effect. It is like you invented the wheel, so simple and so important . Coca cola has the posibility and through the years developed a role modell function they better live up to it.
There seem to be a lot of logistical challenges associated with this idea, namely matching medical supply chains, and the regulation associated with them, with coca-cola's distribution network. Also, oversight will be a limiting factor, and who decides who gets what is in the "life-saving" crate? All in all, I have concerns about this idea and will be interested in coca-cola's thoughts. I recommend checking out the novel social fundraising entry - 3for5. This one is going to turn some heads.
? I dunno, good idea but not really what I think Google is looking for? Maybe Coke should do this any way., they sure have rotted enough teeth time to pay back.
Great idea, distribution is one of the most overlooked problem of any good idea. This is my second favorite idea of the Google 10 to 100 projects so far. Next to the my Missing Kids Street Team idea of course ;-)
Its all about advertisement. You will do anything to get your product anywhere and to earn more billions....... dont play the "good guy" after you poisoned us for so many years with your black water.....
Back in 1984 Bob Geldof got 1m from both Coke and Pepsi, both companies thought they were getting exclusive sponsorship deals with BandAid. I think it's the only time Coke and Pepsi shared a deal.
Why have you gone from saying 'Cola' to 'Coke', you seem to have just thrown away a relationship with Pepsi?
Also, do you realise that there are places that boycott Coke in protest at US actions abroad, so those people will not be helped. Maybe you'll need both company's distribution networks?
Good luck and this is a great idea. I am engaged in a similar cause for a student created group called Chip Away Malaria. The key to your success will be getting Coca Cola on board and from the looks of your site, you seem close. Keep working hard.
Some campaigns go overboard with stats and images. This is different as it just presents the situation and solution plainly. Well done, I will pass it around.
It just "does what it says on the tin" ... or bottle!
I agree that Coke should be doing more to help keep 20% of their customers alive.
It wouldn't hurt them or cost them very much to save lives, so they should definitely do as much as they can.
If they do not decide to help distribute rehydration salts it would clearly make all of their corporate social responsibility reports look utterly meaningless.
Anyway, I sincerely hope that they will decide to do the right thing without any more delay.
I never understand why it's been done before...

Coca Cola need to do something to counter the bad publicity they're getting in Colombia for associating with death squads.

Some campaigns go over the top with complex messages and stats.
This just "does as it says on the tin" - or bottle!!
Well done, will forward.
Great cause, great simple message.
