I don't agree with all of Dr. Paul's politics, but I definitely respect the hell out of the guy. Nobody can call him out on character flaws or inconsistency, for sure.

Whenever he and Kucinich get together on policy, it's like the perfect balance of reason between the best forms of American conservatism and liberalism.

Ron Paul was the best Republican candidate, but he still is an occasional lying politician, just like the rest of 'em. For example, he won't say he believes in evolution, and he always dodges the question, just to not lose the hard-core religious voters.

And, frankly, he hasn't adequately explained the awful racist newsletter thing. Sure, ghostwriters wrote it, but as long as there's no explanation about what his relation to it is, and who the ghostwriters were, it's hard to believe.

The president is at least somewhat involved in a lot of policy, since usually the president is responsible for dictating the legislative agenda of his party. And, it just so happens that your general world view and beliefs influence the policy decisions you make. I'd like someone who knows a little about the world to be making the policy decisions, and a basic understanding of science is part of that.

I'm amazed by Dr. Paul's humility, though. He could've laughed at the others when the moderator pointed out that it was the party that had changed; not him. He could've pumped his fist in the air. While the others are spending campaign money to sling mud, Dr. Paul is using his funds to spread his message and lay out plans.
