They often make this sound when they get older. Their sight and hearing dimenish.Could be a little Dementia too. I had two do this same thing. One started at 15 and the other at 16. The last lived to 18 1/2 and she did it right to the very end. The other liked to go into the basement where the acoustics were so much better... ;-) I miss them both very much. 42 years of constant Siamese.

it's called caterwauling. it's what cat's do when they are calling each other cats, mother cats will do it looking for their kittens.. female cats do it when they are in heat. catssometimes they'll do it when looking for their human,..

my cats do this, it's normal. They do these really deep, loud, obnoxious howls to each other. Check out other big cats behaviours and you'll see lions, cougars and tigers doing this as well.

It's not an unusual meow for a siamese. They all have different meows. But it's call sounds like its looking for attention, and that it's lonely. Siamese are very vocal and needs lots of attention. But you gotta love 'em:) <3

dogzees, our guy is dead now. He was the business, and more than a part of the family. He was also a rescue cat. Not surprising , we found it hard too, you make some very good observations. These are more dog than cat, he'd play fetch and truly understand you. He'd relentlessly pursue other cats and killed 3 I know of, and had a huge territory. I don't know if I could commit to another.

makes me laugh when people ask if he is old, sick or too skinny. these are siamese cats, skinny, funny looking, loud and constantly talking. i got mine purebread through a shelter, guess previous 4 (!) owners did not do their research on siamese before getting one. honestly, i did not either, took couple of weeks to get used to the noiose and constant following..1.5 yrs later and I feel i could die for her... but still understand why these are not for everyone.

Hi, does your cat suffer from the Graves' disease (Hyperthyroidism )? I am asking because my cat has it, he lost a lot of body mss and the fur got.... umm... like and old teddy bear. Luckily it can be treated and is not lethal as long as you treat it. I wish both you and your cat a great summer :)

btw, no cats are NOT lazy - they will get into anything and everything if allowed. i have had cats all my life and they jumped amazing heights until they were about 10-12 years old and still had huge spurts of energy racing around the place at fast speeds until they were about 15 or 16. (that's late 70s and into the 80s for humans), but just like people can get arthritic in their 20s and 30s, cats can get arthritic too before and by the time they're 10 years old.

he looks older - and by the way he's walking up the stairs, he may have some arthritis in his hind legs which is very common in older cats (they tend to show signs of arthritis between 10-15 years old) - he probably just doesn't like having to climb all the stairs because it's hard on his hind legs.
