The only wy he could get the people to agree. was to the average guy cuts as well. And, coin the phrase Trickle down. Low rates and Trickle down never has worked!. The republicans used to be progressive when they started but they moderated after Grant and went left during T. Roosevelt. Then they were laissez faire from Taft until Hoover. FDR won WWII and got us out of the Great Depression -- which occurred after 3 straight Republican administrations (Harding, Coolidge, Hoover) reversed progressive trends such as regulating robber barons. Republicans, raised the debt the most, spent the most. Reagan coined the trem trickle down. Because he wanted to give the rich huge tax cuts. The only wy he could get the people to agree. was to the average guy cuts as well. And, coin the phrase Trickle down. Low rates and Trickle down never has worked!. The lowest rates were the last half of the 1920s. Which led to the Depression. Last time the GOp had a balanced budget was in the 1950s with 91% tax rates.

The reason we had 91 tax rates then was because no one actually paid those rates, logics tells you, if 90 cent out of every dollar goes to the government, there would be no incentive to work. Its not for the super rich, its also for small business owners. And Enron messes had a lot to do with Clinton. @emmettk The Republicans didn't start calling themselves conservatives until Robert Taft, who advocated a preservation of the Founding Fathers ideology of free trade non-interventionism on foreign affairs and property rights which contradicted FDR who wanted to progress or reject on some the founding principles of the nation but then in 1970s the GOP wanted more votes so they attracted religious zealots and southerns.

We didn't really get over the depression under FDR, it only happened after truman came to power, which is over 12 years after the original depression that took place at the end of hoover's term. Went into korea under truman and vietnam under LBJ, that increased war time spending and affected domestic spending. The republicans used to be progressive when they started but they moderated after Grant and went left during T. Roosevelt. Then they were laissez faire from Taft until Hoover. They were moderate under Eisenhower, Nixon, and Ford. They went right under Reagan and now they're far right. The parties actually exchanged ideology during the 1960's.

That's not a conservative of any kind. He was a progressive in an age of progressives. When he ran for president in 1912 he ran on the progressive party ticket. The nickname was just the bull moose party. Every party has a left and right but republicans didn't get truely conservative until 1980.

People weren't forced to become sharecroppers. That would be slavery all over again; they had the option to become sharecroppers and many took it. Short of putting a gun to someone and telling them to do something, its not coercion. They could leave if they wanted to.

At the birth of the two party system Democrats were evil and ignorant, and republicans had an intelligent idea of what freedom actually is, somewhere along the lines they reversed roles and since the 60's they've both been pretty stupid, though efficient when it comes to fucking over the USA, The communist countries we've been insulting and attacking for 60 years should be proud at the way we export our own economy. I suggest you take a look at exactly WHO filibustered the Civil Rights Bill of 64.
Sure, there was a split in the Democrat party after Civil Rights, but every major player in the '64 filibuster not only stayed in the Democrat party, they went on to become it's power. Gore Sr, Same Eason, Robert Byrd, Richard Russel, and Clinton's political mentor - J W Fulbright. + Governors McGovern, Connor, Wallace, etc - all lifelong completely partisan Dems.

BTW, Democrats trashed MLK in the 1960s. Democrats never want to give blacks important jobs. They only picked Obama because he is half white and, according to Biden, is "clean". Their racism always shows up in their casual comments.

They passed the Civil Rights Act--Johnson couldn't get enough Democrats to do it. By contrast, the Democrats trashed MLK in the 60s. They have re-enslaved poor people through their entitlement programs instead of getting out of the way of free enterprise, so that people could have jobs.
