Metallica are true artists, when they walk into the studio they translate their thoughts and feelings into music. That's what an artist does... you can't claim to be a metallica fan and say that they sold out after Black Album or make any other stupid statement like that. Those men are artists and their art matures as they grow... they won't always be 20-year old hardcore thrashers!

why do people think reload is shit? not everyone constantly wants to listen to thrash metal, no doubt thrash is good but it does get boring after a while. Metallica tried something they hadn't tried before in reload, and they pulled it off great. It's only because of a few over-zealous shithead metal critics and fans that this album isn't as popular as it should be. personally, i think it's one of their best, i'm not the biggest fan of thrash metal, this kind of dirty garage rock appeals to me.

This phase (1996-2000) was so underrated. So what if it's Country Metal. It's not like Metallica was rapping (like St.Anger) Every Thrash band was going mainstream in the late 90s even Megadeth and Anthrax. The thing is though that they all went back to thrash in the 2000s. Though it took a while for Metallica to go back to thrash. I liked Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax's music in the late 90s. Megadeth was Hard Rock, Metallica was Country Rock, and Anthrax was Heavy Metal
@TYMAN8 the way James sings on the album is very Nu Metal like. The overall sound of St.Anger is Alternative so it's pretty much the bare minimum of rapping. Even though it isn't in your face with autotune, it's still rapping.
I loved all of Metallica's stuff, but their garage phase (Loar, ReLoad, nd St. Anger) were especially good. Most people refer to it as the sell-out phase and I don't know why. These were all good albums. It's just like Metallica's other phases that they went through, like Ride the Lightning. That was their speed metal phase. Can no one respect garage?

Im also a hardcore metallica fan and I think that they are the greatest band to ever live. They do have one flaw however and that is St. Anger. All of their other albums are great but this one was just nowhere near approaching the metallica standard.

If the hardcore methul fans who didn't embrace the Loads & what came later are to cut other types of music some slack, they'd appreciate all the work Metallica has done.
I think that metallica has a album for different feelings. So to really appreciate all their albums you have to be able to embrace your feelings. I have my times when I just want their thrash. Other times, I'm in the mood for something more slow. Lets face it, if you only listen to one genre, then you have no real perception on what music is. Narrowing your perspective on things hurts you the worst in the end.
I think all albums were great, although I don't like all albums (I don't like thrash metal). Load and reload are just as good as the other albums, they just belong to other genres. I think no one should complain about metallica changing genre, there are already 60+ thrash metal songs.

Im also a hardcore metallica fan and I think that they are the greatest band to ever live. They do have one flaw however and that is St. Anger. All of their other albums are great but this one was just nowhere near approaching the metallica standard.

I think all Metallica albums are great, except of some slips here & there..
If the hardcore methul fans who didn't embrace the Loads & what came later are to cut other types of music some slack, they'd appreciate all the work Metallica has done.

I think that metallica has a album for different feelings. So to really appreciate all their albums you have to be able to embrace your feelings. I have my times when I just want their thrash. Other times, I'm in the mood for something more slow. Lets face it, if you only listen to one genre, then you have no real perception on what music is. Narrowing your perspective on things hurts you the worst in the end.

I think all albums were great, although I don't like all albums (I don't like thrash metal). Load and reload are just as good as the other albums, they just belong to other genres. I think no one should complain about metallica changing genre, there are already 60+ thrash metal songs.

@zone1480 why doesn't anybody like Death Magnetic, everybody whines about how it is so bad, but what is it that makes it so bad? DM is melodic thrash, it's an awesome album that partially goes back to the older days, I agree this album is really really great, but why the hatin' on DM?

@Snerual1992 i agree with you. I think every Metallica album is good because they really put their heart making every album and song. So this makes the albums good and authentic.
This is authentic art from authentic artists, thus the products they do are a pure reflex of what they feel and have to say, and that must be treated with all respect.

@cuxsia Definitely. Artists shouldn't produce art because of someone else's needs--they should produce art that they make from their own tastes. For example, I dislike Frantic, but you know what? Metallica's taste was to make Frantic. And everyone should respect that. Even Beiber fanatics and 'rapstars'.

Everyone seems to give me/people/them crap about THIS one and everything back to the Black Album. That and St. Anger..... THAT one gets all the crap. :/ Idk.... I think all the albums are good.
