There is a good reason for the strict rules that series like the IRL and Grand Am put into play. It keeps everything on a level playing ground which means it helps make smaller teams more viable in being real competitors. The Trans Am series is a good example of why you need cost saving rules for all teams and not just the big ones. I've never seen this guy before but I honestly don't see how he meets the requirements to talk about racing or cars in general. Just 2 cents.

Assuming that Rado's F'wing TC, is even CLOSE to a run of the mill TC is your first mistake.... and a huge one.
Second mistake is not researching the INSANE aero, chassis and suspension work into that car; if you say the F'wing set up is ugly, thats fine, that is your opinion on the looks of the car, which has absolutely NOTHING to do with how it functions as a purpose-built time attack car...

being a champ car follower im forced to watch indy now that the merger is history. not the biggest fan but its something. i was excited to see the new chasis and was really disapointed by the delta wing. sure it was a d*** move to put down the company but the other chasis are much nicer. while im often a critic of the only thing i have to watch you were pretty harsh. i agree with you to an extent but at the same time not that much. its just sad that they had to swallow champcar on the way down.

Wow, just wow. I called it back in 2007 that Indycar was dying and this futher cements it. I guess its official, American Open Wheel racing is dead, period. No one can save it now.
FactorX FX750 NSX is a BEAST! that car is the best by far. 2400lbs and can push out 950rwhp simply by adding boost! The AMS EVOX is such a STREET beast. The reason why AMS to me is so sick is becuase they sell everypart on their cars! Which means I can have a carbon copy of that car if I wanted to. TA is the best because they run stock chassis cars, that anyone can buy and then mod them with mostsly off-the-shelf parts like Garrett GT35R's, BC cams, and Wiseco rods. Same stuff used on the street
Great show Leo. I love how you bring us the less known aspects of racing. Time Attack is something I have become aware of in the last few years. The run what you brung attitude gives a whole new reason to build a car for track days. Still too soon for a Pearl Harbor joke with that level of detail though. Some of us still remember one of the reasons why Nissan badged themselves as Datsun for the first 20 years they were sold in the US.
Simple, its called Downforce. That "TC ricer" as you ignorantly call it, has that front wing to provide front downforce and with the rear wing keeping the rear firmly planted, you've got one grippy car, a record breaking grippy car to be exact. Also try looking up hill climb prototypes or Early le Mans Prototypes, they too have utilized this.
That wing probably produces even more downforce than the read wing does. In the FWD Scion tC this is incredibly useful in nullifying understeer without having a pussyfoot.
Before you jump on the internet guns a' blazing about ricers sucking, check yourself.

billy johnson dominated this past year in the redline timeattack unlimited class. he used a rear wheel drive acura nsx. he set alot of new records at different tracks. so much for the evos dominating now! time attack is pretty sweet these days! maybe we should talk more about drifting too in the shakedown :]
Time Attack is great. it is grassroots to proffessional thrown into one. The low levels like the street class is a great place for poor college guys with big dreams like me to start, and the unlimited classes that the red hks Evo runs in is a full fledged racing machine.
Search the M-Speed GT-R. A very very serious car. I quite like it. The day I get my r34 I am going to go after every lap record I can. Yes its an unrealistic outrageous dream. Thats why I want to achieve it so badly.
Tell me about it. You can also look down under in australia for a couple. First one that springs to mind right away is the Hi Octane r34. Yes I am a bit of a gt-r fanboy. But those things make ridiculous power. P.S. Wanna compile a list of the prettiest cars that are racing in TA right now? I'm throwing in my vote for the Nagisa Auto r34.

The cricket (don't know other sponsor) time attack NSX is only about .5 ~ 1 second behind the all wheel drive cars which is amazing for a rear wheel drive.

its about time someone started a true 'unlimited' series.
Indy is a type series and so is F1 just about with the strict rules.
I mean unlimited like how F1 was, and gave us ground effct, fan cars and six wheelers.
Maybe only limit the money allowed to be spent, but allow anything that makes cars go faster.
This would be good for the viewers but also manufacturers and they can showcase technologies, like KERS in F1,

But hey, if Scion made it sporty (I haven't driven a tC yet), then I have no objections.

Sorry Leo I just feel fast lane daily has been slacking. Before you guys would do awesome videos which were very imformative and normally the shakedown was the best bit. I just found this video and a lot of the newer uploads lacking. I can't pinpoint it but you guys have strayed from your roots. I guess it's back to grassroots motorsports for me.

Would be easy to NOT agree with you. But, point is taken and you know there have been changes FLD is working through.
This was not my strongest topic [eg- Old guy in the TA paddock, beware!] But, did my best and wrote it as an intro to the category. From there we can move into the details of some of the builds, etc..

FactorX FX750 NSX is a BEAST! that car is the best by far. 2400lbs and can push out 950rwhp simply by adding boost! The AMS EVOX is such a STREET beast. The reason why AMS to me is so sick is becuase they sell everypart on their cars! Which means I can have a carbon copy of that car if I wanted to. TA is the best because they run stock chassis cars, that anyone can buy and then mod them with mostsly off-the-shelf parts like Garrett GT35R's, BC cams, and Wiseco rods. Same stuff used on the street

Having some trouble finding the "street" aspect of TA-X, lol.
Don't let FXms fool ya, they have put so much time into fine tuning that entire car, it is not a bolt-up affair by any means.
It would take massive amounts of knowledge and skill to get the same car with the same parts performing the same.
The formula is not, "nsx + parts = FXms time".
I would say its more like, "nsx + parts + tuning + adjusting + tuning + adjusting = progress

Great show Leo. I love how you bring us the less known aspects of racing. Time Attack is something I have become aware of in the last few years. The run what you brung attitude gives a whole new reason to build a car for track days. Still too soon for a Pearl Harbor joke with that level of detail though. Some of us still remember one of the reasons why Nissan badged themselves as Datsun for the first 20 years they were sold in the US.

Simple, its called Downforce. That "TC ricer" as you ignorantly call it, has that front wing to provide front downforce and with the rear wing keeping the rear firmly planted, you've got one grippy car, a record breaking grippy car to be exact. Also try looking up hill climb prototypes or Early le Mans Prototypes, they too have utilized this.

That wing probably produces even more downforce than the read wing does. In the FWD Scion tC this is incredibly useful in nullifying understeer without having a pussyfoot.

billy johnson dominated this past year in the redline timeattack unlimited class. he used a rear wheel drive acura nsx. he set alot of new records at different tracks. so much for the evos dominating now! time attack is pretty sweet these days! maybe we should talk more about drifting too in the shakedown :]

Time Attack is great. it is grassroots to proffessional thrown into one. The low levels like the street class is a great place for poor college guys with big dreams like me to start, and the unlimited classes that the red hks Evo runs in is a full fledged racing machine.
Search the M-Speed GT-R. A very very serious car. I quite like it. The day I get my r34 I am going to go after every lap record I can. Yes its an unrealistic outrageous dream. Thats why I want to achieve it so badly.

Leo never real understood the whole Indy car type racing or cared. Everytime I watched it sounded like a bunch of non-sense, but I know it wasn't non-sense. Anyways I like this new direction Leo and intrest into Time Attack racing. I myself like TA racing but am not that knowledgable either so I right with you guys with learning more.
