As unbelievable as it is, Marty was having chest pains as he performed with the Mandrell sisters in this video. Two days later he went into the hospital with his second diagnosed heart attack.
@ron777ish You're right but much more than a song writer, a great performer and a really prolific singer songwriter who I've seen many times, he's always acknowledged Marty for helping his career and does a great flattering imitation of him.
I wouldn't blame Marty if he forgot the words Barbara is a living doll! I think he says something about ..." not half as pretty as you" check it out around 0:40.
@palehorseone I know it's hard to watch any thing except Barbara. But, you are kidding right? I can't speak for anyone else, but she would have turned me into a babbling fool in about 10 seconds!
@BrickPa I was being facetious. If I were a woman commenting I am sure I'd be inclined to wonder if anyone but Marty was in the video. But both here are/were (God rest your soul, Marty) such incredibly beautiful, charismatic and talented people this ought to be captured for all time in the Smithsonian or somewhere like that
every time i hear and see this man i feel good;
even dead, he's making this world a better place;
he surely is

Barbara Mandrell and Connie Smith (in their day) were without a doubt the prettiest ladies in country music.

Gordon Lightfoot wrote an epic with this one and with exponents of the calibre of Marty Robbins and Connie Smith performing you've got to love it!
