You would have to be mental to think a standard VX Clubsport would have any chance against an Audi RS4......these two cars are no where near being in the same class....Holden (Chev) dinosaur V8 RWD vs Audis 4.2 V8 All wheel drive Quattro system.....and I'm a Holden man, I can just admit that there are much better vehicles out there than a Holden....Holdens and HSV's minus the W427 are a great bang for your buck Australian car but when your comparing to German engineering there is no comparison.

I like aussie cars, and I also like Euro cars, Ive owned a Clubsport and and SS in the past, and I currently drive and FPV GT-P. they are all great cars.

Having said that, an RS4 is currently on my shopping list!!

I dont think its fair to compare the Aussie brands to the RS4 as they are different cars, with different budgets and vastly different markets

Yeh the W427 is just ridiculously overpriced... its as much as an M3, yet it cant lap as fast... sure it has abit more straightline power but its nowhere near as nice to own, its not as well built, its not as nice to look at.... and its a fucken holden.

Considering nissans new GTR will be the same price as the W427, but will literally run rings around it.... I dont see how holden can justify that price.

i think they only put that price is because its limited in numbers. i do agree with u though it is over priced. i mean u can put another what ? 15k into a clubsport or gts and it will do more then a W427. although they are nice cars. anything but a ford for me. unless its a mustang or GT LOL !

Yes I love the r35 gtr, i have seen these take off from lights , not much would keep up, literally unbelievable, the hsv w 427 is definately overpriced for what they are but as they only made a few there more a collectors car and alot people got to remember the w427 is not hsvs fastest produced car off the line. the ve walkinshaw r8 is the fastest hsv producing 470 kw standard from there supercharged donk, where the w427 is 427cubes but merely 370kw, quite a difference. This is a stupid drag

If Australia dropped its stupid Import taxes, HSV would be out of Business, as 911s , BMW M-cars and AMGs, would all of a sudden be half the price. In the UK you can buy an hsv clubsport (rebadged a Vauxhall VXR8), for approx 40,000 pounds ( its an import there so its taxed like any other bmw , merc etc...) or an new M3/RS4 for approximately 50,000... I know which one I would buy.

mmm yes dropping import taxes would be lovely. However the cars you mentioned are sold a premium here, and so the taxes are not really the cause of huge prices. Its those company's making more on each car.

The RS4 still runs a high 12 second/low 13 1/4 mile, No current HSV can take it. Plus its only a 4.2litre V8, and new hsvs are 6+ litres. I agree that the S6 and S8 are probably two of the most dissapointing cars Audi has released... but the new RS6 is a cracker. Sure the RS4 costs alot more, but half of it is pure tax. Considering you can pay $80k for an hsv clubsport and its made locally, and you pay $150k for an M3 ( of which 50-60k is tax)... the hsv all of a sudden looks expensive.

Oh, sorry. It was the S6. But the S6 is marketed as a 'luxo-performance' car. The same engine from the Clubbie is used in the HSV Senator, the luxury model.

You would expect MUCH better from a 5.2 litre V10 boasting 330kW. But the Clubsport easily outpaces it. Even the 5-year-old VX Commodore beats the Audi.
