this phone is number one on my hit list! i'm getting it as soon as it comes out on june 6th (: can't wait. it's going to be sweet, and than some (: oh, and i don't think that this will be THE iphone killer, but it will definantley pull the red carpet out from underneath the iphone, and actually open the market to better phones. the iphone is kinda played out, sorry apple fans ): hopefully the new iphone OS will be worthy of all the publicity it's getting.

As true as that may be, you can actually REMOVE the battery of the Pre via the back cover....a battery that can be user replaced, what a concept! (slight sarcasm there) So you will not have to pay for any repairs or shipping or be phoneless if your battery bites the dust, you just go buy a new one. If it's under warranty, then your even better off. When it comes ot battery replacement, the Pre naturally wins that battle.

no, it doesnt work that way, you will at cheapest get it for 200, its supposed to be 150 off the full price of the phone which is 600 dollars I believe, but just go to bestbuy and get it, btw, its estimated about only 4 phones will be available at each best buy, there are 4500 phones, and 1000 bestbuys, so you want to be first in line, the more regular phones a bestbuy sells before hand, the more palm pre's they will get, I work there, so I know

Great news everyone! I managed to get some info about when this phone is going to be released. I called sprint and told them I really wish they could just tell me when the phone is coming out because I was going back and forth between the Pre and iphone(which I am not!) and she said just hold out for a few weeks or so because it will be released withing the first quater which ends in June and that she is going to personally call me when it available to order. Nothing on pricing though.

I went to my local Sprint store last week to inquire about a relase date, and the girl there told me that they had just had a visit from their Palm rep and were given an "end of June" release date. She said the rep told them that the Pre must be out by the end of the first business quarter, as Palm promised, but that Palm was gonna hold it till the very end of the quarter, as late as possible, hence the end of June. I was told $299 with a 2-year contract. Ouch. Hope it's worth it!

I think your mistaken. The first quarter ended in march. The second quarter ends in June.

Nope, I'm not. Many companies have different quarter cycles. Palm's fiscal year ends on May 30, 2009...which means their first quarter runs from May 31st to August 31st. So, in actuality, they can wait til the end of August and still release the Pre in their "first" quarter. By comparison, Apple's first quarter runs from 9/28-12/28. No doubt they structured this way to get the holiday shopping boost and therefore can report strong 1st quarter earnings and keep their stockholders happy.

On Friday, we mentioned how Sprint, the exclusive carrier for the Pre, has started training its employees on the Pre. Now a leaked Sprint planning document suggest the company may be moving towards a May 17 launch date, says Engadget. Sprint has also reportedly put a freeze on vacation for its employees in May, a move similar to what AT&T did before the launch of the iPhone. Another possible Pre launch date could be June 29, suggests Gizmodo.

With Apple releasing a possible 3rd gen iphone this summer, it will be interesting. My contract ends in June with Sprint so I'm definitely curious to see what Apple will come up with. I love what I've seen from this phone, but I don't know if its worth it to stay especially if Sprint makes everyone "upgrade" to a special $70 or more plan. Why not get an next gen iphone if its hardware is just as good or better and the app store is way more established?

FINALLY A PHONE OTHER THAN THE IPHONE HAS EXECUTED THE TOUCH SCREEN THE RIGHT WAY.this one is almost if not just as fluid running as the iphone's unlike the other touch phones that have been stiff and never really did a good job at doing it atleast close to the right way.not to mention they're still working on the phone so when it comes over here to the U.S. it'll be(dare i say)even better than the iphone?! i have high expectations for this phone though so dont be another flop!

The pinch didn't look quite a slick as iPhone's.

well the instinct is a shitty phone in all regards pretty much. right now the hardware is all pretty innovative with touch screens and what not.  the only MAIN difference between phones is the OS and the mac os on the iphone is top notch, but looks like this web OS will be the first true competitor. winmo 6.5 is alright, still slow buggy and a PoS imo though. webOS FTW!

My main concern is that with phones like these (Iphone, Android, Palm Pre) you HAVE to make an account and open up your complete digital life to a company...
