It has to do with keeping people honest. Even though its a clean hit. Its like saying, you can lay a huge hit on my player, but your going to pay a price for it. More to intimidate a player from making a hit like that. Plus trying to get some momentum back. No one likes to see someone get hit like that clean or dirty.
