  • I've always been fascinated by watching traffic, especially at night. After dark it looks so serene and orderly from a distance. Oceans of sparkling diamonds and rubys. Funny how something so frustrating on the ground can be so beautiful when you see it from afar.

  • Indeed - the cityscape overviews can be spectacular - I definitely need to do more of them :-) Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

  • Do you think the automobile makes our lives better or worse?

  • In general I think they've improved our lives in many ways, but also come with some downsides that could be improved... Converting to better energy sources (hydrogen, air, electricity, etc.) and improved roadway design/planning would definitely help... =)

  • borrrring

  • Do you use a video camera or a picture camera? Plus I live in Santa Clarita too, which part do you live in?

  • Santa Clarita CA and los angeles traffic are realy heavy

  • Yea it gets rediculous sometimes. It was fairly light when I shot these scenes! :-) Thanks for checking it out!

  • @jcmegabyte your welcome

  • Im moving to santa clarita in may of 2010

  • Ahh looks like you already found it! :-) The SCV is still a decent place to live, but it isn't the small town it used to be!

  • how come?

  • I have visited the area and like it very much. :)

  • Seems like it gets more crowded every year. It's still a decent place to live but it used to be better. :-)

  • Great look at Santa Clarita and the 5 freeway , thanks

  • Thanks for checking it out! :-)

  • WOW!!!

  • This is my city - lots of cars and not enough roads! :-) Thanks for visiting!

  • cool video

  • Thanks for checking it out! =)

  • Great!

  • Thanks! =)

  • hola chico que pasa???

  • Nice job, makes Santa Clarita look more busy than it already is. lol

  • I should go time lapse Bouquet Canyon/Soledad at 4pm - THAT would look really scary! :-)

  • awesome vid & music :-)

    5 *****

    PLM

  • Thanks so much for stopping by! :-)

  • Used to live their went to Rosedell Elementary. I need to go back!

  • They keep building roads but the traffic keeps getting worse to keep up! :-O

  • They need to STOP building houses, I think they did, This town used to be nice now is just like the valley !!!! Like you said too much traffic !!!

  • I think they stopped construction during the worst part of the economic downturn, but there are still plenty of developments on hold, awaiting better economy and city approvlals. :-(

No doubt, they've build this valley into oblivion and you're right - it's hard to tell apart from the SFV... A traffic signal every block (usually red) and just too many cars in general. I need a helicopter to get around! XD

  • I dont kow if you care or not but back in 1996 I made a music video nera were you live in the Shadow Pines area (my brother just got a house there this summer) We filmed it down by the train tunnels (I bet you know the area) is Caled FREE FALLIN, the song by Tom Petty. Anyway I like your videos, Keep it Up, Luke

  • I have that Petty CD (Full Moon Fever) - cool song. I know of one train tunnel on the east end of the SCV, not far from River's End RV park. It's actually in Bear Canyon (part of Soledad Canyon) near a street called "Capra". I'll go look for your vid is it's online... I'm sure I'll recognize the area :-)

  • I dont know if it is in the search yet, Just click my accout, It is one of the last video I uploaded today.

  • oh it wouldn't be a video of santa clarita if soladad canyon road wasn't in it, lovely video

  • No doubt! Soledad used to be THE road when I was a kid - a two lane highway with a stop sign at Sierra Hwy and another at Bouquet Cyn, and nothing in between! Ahhh those were the days! :-)

  • so.. many.. cars..

  • You're not kidding - and it seems like there'smore of them every day! :-O

  • is santa clarita a good area? i going to a trip ther so i wonder if is a bad or a whealty hood?

  • There is a wide variety of economic areas in Santa Clarita - from gated multi-million dollar estates to ranch-like areas, to housing tract suburbia to high density (apartment/condo) complexes.

In any case, it's definitely NOT the small town I grew up in anymore - traffic can be a problem at times, especially towards the center of the city and I'd say the whole place is a bit over-built, but at least there are no "slums" around. There are also lots of hidden places here to explore, too. :-)

  • thank you for your answer!:)

  • OmGG Yes! The BEST place(:

  • wuao nice work!!

  • Thanks for checking it out :-)

  • awesome job, i just wish you would have covered the 5 side of santa clarita along with the 14 side but i know its a big job. great vid!

  • Thanks for checking it out! I do have plans to shoot a lot more SCV traffic and other stuff, and I'll make it a point to hit Valencia, Newhall, Stevenson Ranch, Town Center, etc. ...there are lotsa of cool places left to do yet! :-)

  • cool stuff

  • Love your time lapse stuff. :) Nice work!

    Awesome sound track as always.

  • So glad you're enjoying these - lotsa work went into them. More on the way, too =)

  • very nice :) i drive a prius

  • Those are cool cars - especially when you can drive them around short distances without running the engine much. I can't wait for all electrics with decent battery performance (that are also affordable!) :-)

  • wow, poor planet earth, hehehehe much GASOLINA!!!! 5***** super video!

    ciao, paolo

  • Yea - you're not kidding! I'll be one of the first in line to buy an electric car as soon as an affordable model comes out. Thanks for watching/commenting :-)

  • Wow, that's a LOT of vehicles! Here in our little town of Midland, Ontario, we call it a traffic jam if you're at a stop light and there are four or five other cars there with you.

  • That sounds like heaven to me! Hahaha XD This little town was like that when I grew up here. There were no traffic signals, only an occasional stop sign. Now it's not much different than the northern L.A. valleys. 3 to 4 lanes of surface street traffic in both directions, and the dreaded traffic signals every block. The traffic shown in this video is actually VERY light for this area. Rush hour is not unlike NYC. :-( Thanks for watching and happy holidays! =D

  • Wow, pretty amazing. Here in new york, there are lots of traffic at night and when it rains. Thats our main reason. 5 stars *****

  • You could shoot some great time lapses of heavy traffic in NYC. Got a still camera? give it a try! =D

  • wow and I thought tulsa traffic was bad...great vid, traffic at night is pretty :)

  • Yea, it's gets pretty scary here during rush hour! The night shots are may favorites too - I'm planning on more (and better ones) of those. Thanks for watching! :-)

  • good work, again- I need to get working on time lapse's again!

  • Be sure and send them to me when you make some :-)
