Music lovers might be aware that this melody originally was to be recorded as a duet by legendaries- K.L.Saigal & Noorjehan- once Anilda told me.

But, as the fate would have been; Saigal expired young in 1947 (age-42) and Noorjehan migerated to Pakistan. Otherwise, this song must have been the GREATEST MELODY (not one of the greatest) of the yesteryears,

Even than young Lata & Mukesh did sang soulfully. Is'nt it !

maybe i have said this before. but when i met biswas sahib in delhi in 2001 i reminded him of this song. especially the sitar inyerlude in cross rhythm between the 2nd and 3rd verses. he recalled it with pleasure and even mentioned the sitar player s name. to my regret i have forgotten it.

oh, how had the memory of this song washed away. Remember it I listened when I was about 9-10 yr old.

And later I did hum this when was about 23-24 yer old.
