I cheated a lot in this... the same game files are really oldschool and easy to figure out. Can't really do it with modern games. But as soon as I reached a savepoint I saved it, edited the save file and gave myself a rocket launcher and all kinds of stuff. I had every item code written down. I was a nerd. :D

If you can handle the Knife its a very usefull Weapon, to spare Bullets.

When the Zombies come to you, you got to Duck yourself and Cut the Legs from the Zobies, than the Zombie fall down, and when he lies on the Ground you got to him and Cut him with the Knife in his Back.

If you learn to use the Knife is really good.

Now these are the sort of games I like. the true sense of horror, the surprise when they come at you, the epic boss fights and so on. When they made games like resident evil 4 and 5, the fun is pretty much wrecked. Of course you still get a slight sense of horror in the new games, but they might as well make them a completely different series.

The company that makes these new resident evil games should return to this classic horror style. Thumbs up if you agree! :)

I still love this what they call "Outdated" style of Resident Evil. As a fan, I never wanted a new perspective in gameplay, that's why when RE4 came out in 2005, I was in total shock. The game was awesome though but the horror is just lite, not really as scary as the older games where every room you enter in, you push the aim button (R1 button) so you'll be ready when a zombie is near.

RE4 was ok and atmospheric but RE5 was not scary at all. It's just an action game with a Resident Evil name.

@KapaH8sU Resident Evil 2 takes place 2 days after resident evil 3. I can only assume that the zombies flooded the RPD during some time within those 2 days; and the officers made barricades. But, they were eventually overran. So, the barricades were destroyed and Marvin was the only living policeman left in the building.

@lonely90ification My mistake. The first half of RE3 took place 24 hours before RE2 and the second half of RE3 took place 2 days after the events of RE2. The opening movies from both games confirm it. In RE3, the outbreak was just underway. The RPD officers were alive, as well as a small number citizens. But, in RE2, when Leon and Claire arrive in the city, everyone is already dead.

Honestly the sense of horror I get from this game is from the awful controls and the awful camera angles where you can't see shit.

People crying about Resident Evil 4 for not being scary when in reality the controls are just better and you can see what's going on.

@Krousify heh yea youre right on about the shit controlling. other than that factor (which may have been a reason the earlier REs emphasized a puzzle gamestyle) the one angle, pre-rendered (great artwork btw) gives it a more realistic feeling, like im watching leon through a fixed camera. the fact that can you see everywhere around you hinders the suspense factor. but yea the controls were very difficult to work with.

Yeah, I'm not a great fan of these kinda games, but I can straight away tell that, the first resident evils was about Zombie apocalypse, but resident evil 4+ is pretty much a shoot em up game, where it's not zombies but evil cults and groups and whatnot's. Lost its horror. Why? Because when I play the first 3 RE I was all "SHIIITTT RUN RUN SHOOT SHOOT NO DON'T EAT ME!"

RE 4 is the best in the sense that it is easily the most fun to play. Why it doesn't have the traditional zombies like the earlier RE's, I think the infected villagers are better bc they're not slow as shit, plus they eventually mutate into something worse than zombies.

I remember this when it first came out...I was 12 and too freaked out to play but I watched my brother play it and it gave me nightmares. I'm 25 now and it doesn't give me nightmares but still freaks me out. I still panic every time a zombie touches me and I toss the controller to whoever is sitting next to me. I wish I knew why this game freaks me out more than any zombie movie ever has.

@AnarchyandAngels Probably because of how its not too cheesy or cliche of a zombie game that the player can figure out what is gonna happen and not get spooked when any "scare moment" happens. The only old R.E game I've had the chance to play is R.E. 3 Nemesis. That to my is actually scarier than the new scare/action games.
