Big confusion with the results as usual with USAC. Fittipaldi put back on the lead lap and finished 2nd while Crawford dropped another lap after his late fuel stop and finished 6th (you could see he was right behind Mears at the flag, so he was indeed two laps down instead of one).
@FighterGrant USAC really screwed up the timing and scoring and officiating during many Indy 500s, I wonder how many results over the years were innacurate compared to what they should have been.
