In my opinion, this isn't abuse, either.  The one thing I don't like about the video is that it doesn't reveal everything that was going on. Everybody IS different, but I can say this from my experience as a child: I didn't always appreciate sound direction at times unless the threat of or corporal punishment was involved. As I got older, I was able to choose direction over correction, but I HAD TO GET TO THAT POINT. MAYBE SHE WASN'T THERE YET.

I agree that spanking can be an effective punishment and I have spanked my nieces and nephews as well when they misbehaved. However, there's a HUGE difference between "spanking" and "abusing." He was cursing at her, throwing her around and then the mother joined in too. That's excessive and passes the point of a simple punishment.
