my band played a gig with these guys for the anti-nazi league about 8 years ago. It was the first time I'd seen them do folk and like just now, I was blown away
I love this song and as all great folk songs should it changes and evolves to suit the time and place it is sung, unbeleivebly the Copper family version from 19 whatever so matches our times in old England it should be the new National Anthem..would love it if Cameron had to stand every time it was played !!
Given the most unfortunate political atmosphere of England: illegal immigration, the ruin of the enviorment, and the loss of English tradition, I'd say that this somg is dure and proper.
I saw them in Vancouver, BC about 8 years ago. They were awesome.

definitely my favourite version loving the satire. Shame I can't find this version anywhere else.

Amazing! Whats the last ine of the fourth verse? I've got
"We are the party who'll get rid of sleaze,
We've got Lordships and Knighthoods
From suitable thieves,"
And the next words i'm not sure about...?

@dalellll
"a working class hero is something to be"

I was not there. But I love Steeleye Span, Chumbawumba and all the rest of you lyrical, radical Brits.

I was there, I live locally. Chumbawumba's set was superb; I met the band, bought their live CD and got them to sign it. Cheers!
