In Mario and Luigi Partners in Time, a magic gate tells them about an Aurora block they need to get and have Luigi hit it. At the end of the little orientation that went with it, the gate said the block would change to the size of the person's heart, and it grew huge and fell on Luigi!

Though in retrospect with Luigi, I guess they really wanted to give him his own character since he was born as a Mario swap and even when he got his own character art, he still remained bland like Mario mostly is until Luigi's Mansion.

I like luigi however I was mad that I got him A Chapter and A half before the game is over since about (spoilers)halway thought the next chapter aka chapter 8 he is no longer playable which sucks because all the other characters you played as them most of the game however you can only play as luigi for as I said though chapter 7-1 8-3 which is..not really more than an hour which SUCKS!

ok, i think you fall into the river twigz to the bottom, then flip to 3-d and go into the hole and in the door, and there's a room thats like a puzzle, you should be sble to figure it out, and once your at the end of it flip to 3-d and go into the door at the end of the path on the right i think, and then jump on the second fountain in the next room, and wait for it to go its higest and jump right and.... voila! an all acess luigi
