    No, you don't have to do the second verse note for note. A couple of production ideas include putting harmonies on the third line of the second verse to help build. You could add more instruments than the first, or play "just a little" more with the melody. It's all good as long as it doesn't overshadow the upcoming chorus or hook line (sometimes the last line of the verse if you have no chorus) after, or at the end of, the second verse. Good luck!

  • This has my been my struggle on a tune I'm working on at the moment.

    I know the second verse should have a little more momentum than the first but how how about the melody. In your opinion should it be note for note phrase for phrase, the same as the first ? Thanks for the insight.
