  • Do you know what nigel gresley said of mallard?-----any one of my engines can do 100mph with or without a tin jacket and the same is true of this monstrosity

  • she was still in the Great Hall at NRM at the begining of October, she has however been given an LMS 'streamlined' coach......though that wasnt so obvious.

she is a stunning machine! she looks great.

but then again so does Mallard. a little worse for wear but still Stunning none the less.

  • How the hell did 14 ton of streamlining make it go faster----they would have been better off halving the size of the tender!

  • @bhyllsman that was Staniers point of view, he hated the streamlining, he felt that the advantages at a higher speed did not outweigh the disadvantages when it came to maintainence. who actually got the streamlining done in the first place is unknown.

  • looks like a stick of rock ugly

  • it would be good if she ran on the mainline like this. Would be Britain (and possibly the worlds) most stylish train. The pendolino of the era

  • @tom201090 I read that the new Director at the NRM is looking at bringing her back into steam, and having a rake BR Mk 2s painted to match. Now that would be a sight.

  • excellent video i liked and faved :)

  • Duchess of Hamilton is my favourite steam engine of all time, she and other members of her class are actually faster than the diesel engine that run services nowadays all the best reason to bring back steam long live steam!!!!!

  • Excellent video top notch mate :)

  • Beautiful. Should have been done decades ago

  • Certainly looks well, i can just remember seeing one of those running.

  • It is better like this I think

  • @mattbozi89 Until you see it for real everyone has different opinions :) I'd personally prefer it to go back on the mainline with the cladding.

  • Wow! Nice footage!

  • Why on earth have they put all this cladding on her??

  • @simonsteam To show the very different streamlining idea LMS used + Steam Railway magazine helped raise the money to re-create it.

  • Awesome looking with the cladding on her ! 5*s and a fav

  • Great Shots! Nice Video, 5*

  • Marvellous shots, wish i'd seen that move !

  • yh nothing can beat the a4 design

  • TRUE THAT ;)

  • Be very intrested to see this for real. Glad you got this on camera for all of us to see, well done. Cheers.

  • its not my favourite design, prefer the a4's but still some magnificent engineering gone into it. All credit to everyone at Tyseley well worth the effort

  • its far nicer than an a4.i saw it yesterday,it looked magnifecant

  • Great Video, 5 Stars!

  • Nice shot of Hamilton, I saw it go through Tamworth at 1056am. I have got a special invite for the unveiling ceremony at York tomorrow, can't wait to get some good photos of it. Expect it to be back on the main line within the next ten years. They wouldn't spend 40 grand for it just to sit in York for evermore.

  • it'll be back on the main line,no doubt about that..i thought the unveiling was on wednesday?

  • it is .they had a special do today for those involved in the restoration

  • Finally she is finished. Lets hope they can get the funds to make her steam in the future.

  • shouldnt be that hard theres not that much wrong with her really only a small boiler overhaul but thats about it

  • she looks absolutly stunning, can not wait to see her in the flesh, thanks for uploading, 5* and favourite

  • no problem =]

  • was at york today, saw union of south africa and then this come in

    Great shots, 5*

  • yeah ill be going up soon to see her again would have been nice if she was fireable though.

  • Crikey, that was a quick reply! And I agree; I wish she was fireable as well, but hopefully it won't be too long before that happens.

  • ha =] yep 2011 hopefully

  • Brilliant
