I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Sports Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and EFi injectors clean as new!
these cars are like tank and very safe also like the chevette is. sadly they both are rare now. ive never seen my car on the road anywhere since the 1970"s. nope never seen one on the road anywhere. thats good for me and my opel gt. 8). also if you know where a chevette is ya better buy it. they like dinosaurs now almost extinct.
a clear robust show of power ..i once owned an opel manta, and indeed the 1.9 could really massacre the tachometer at 8000 rpm and to the uninformed youthful owners of civics and toyotas..the manta and gt can hit 8000 rpm and 200 kph in stock form. ived owned new cars and sadly they cant even matched the double front suspension handling advantage of the opels and my isuzu gemini zzr. i think the only plus point of late model cars is the airconditioning system
and resale value of new cars is of course a plus point..ask and real blooded enthusiast and he will tell you the bullet proof quality of rear driven classic cars
I was lucky and was able find one garage keep for almost 38 years it has 3 rust spots and 2 dents but other that its a damn nice looking car
