Regardless of the specific science and manner by which the "study" made this conclusion: Doing multiple small workouts will bring you better results than none.
I love this idea... But with cardio wouldn't it take a long enough period of time to put enough 'stress' on your body in order to progress? I mean, you're not going to work up a sweat as much in 5 minutes as you would in 30, and surely it's this pressure on your body that will make your body stronger?
But wouldn't you have to warm up before every work out? and what about the hormone levels that u spike up every time u preform an exercise, they dont just stay constant throughout the day... that would be theoretically a good idea but practically it just wouldn't make sense....
