Yes it is great to chase both countries but imo I would rather chase the US storms. I did not chase 2008 and 2009 though went there 2010 for two and a half weeks.
Must be awesome to be able to chase in both the USA and Australia. I chase in the USA being that I live here, but I hope one day that I could possibly chase some storms in Australia. I mainly chase in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. Did get one chase in Nebraska in 2008. You got some good chase footage.
Wow, I did not know we had tornados in Australia but heard just now on the news that there was one today in South Australia. This now adds to the list of record temperatures this summer, devastating bushfires some of which are still burning an earthquake in the south of the country. The sth and east of Australia has been in drought for the last ten years. The north is currently has floods and they just had a cyclone. The global weather is becoming more intense.
about the same time you had yours there were water spouts in sdney, avoca beach, copacabana and one at the entrance which came off the water and straight into a caravan park through a boat and a van but then died....thats insane if this happens then why do they say we dont get tornadoes or is it the fact we call them wirlly birds!!??
This is just awesome storm chasing footage - love the spider lightning most of all! Some of those cloud to ground strikes were extremely close, though. And the supercell approach footage while chasing was also just breathtaking!
I assume the massive shelf cloud was the supercell and Derecho event in northern Oklahoma 27th May 2001 - what a wild ride that was - incredible and the lightning - the longest and most powerful super bolts one can imagine.
Spectacular display of Nature's fury - my favorite segment is from :28 through :35 - the most MASSIVE shelf cloud I've ever seen - and the lightning immediately after is gorgeous - and the lightning from 1:30 through 2:14 leaves me breathless - the CG at 146 TOO CLOSE! Added to favorites, thank you!
Some fantastic shots there :) especially the one that went behind the houses - sounded like a gun going off. So close
