  • cracking film covers a special time in the history of Manchester and i belive it should of won more awards but i don't think Tony Wilson would of liked that. Tony R.I.P

  • Aw, I was looking for the broccoli dialogue... Can't find it anywhere.

    It was the funniest lol

  • John The Postman rocks!!!!!

  • Coogan almost makes a better Tone than Tone did.

  • Could someone please explain the dialogue between the journalist (Paul Morley?) and Wilson at 2:42 when answering accusations of being a fascist because they named the band Joy Diviosion after a Nazi camp?

    "Situationism...post-modernism...free play of science signifiers...etc"

High brow stuff compared to "Wilson, you're a c**t!"

  • @infradig8 Well, if you're still interested or haven't come to your own conclusions Durrutti Column were anarchist militants in the Spanish Civil War, Situationism is ideology but 'situationists' were mainly Marxists - checkout The Situationist Anthology for some interesting reading and post-modernism is bollocks.

  • I saw this movie on cable and loved it imediatly. Rented it: watched it about 5 or 6 times. Great flick! Really heightened my intrest in the British music scene during the 80s.

  • I love his hair *sigh*

  • ha love it when he talks about jazz, he's right though !

  • Coogan is the ship !

  • I've been wondering, Tony says 'I've seen him do it' at 3.10 and in Control Bernard says it when Hooky is squaring up to the guy at the bar when Ian gets Wilson to put Joy Division on the TV...

    Was it deliberate?

  • tony wilson is legend!! steve coogan is a great actor and.... is so cool.

  • Well put together, great film, awsome music - didn't get to the Hac until it's dying days but my bros loved it

  • oue...this movie is fuckin amazing, steve played the best role i´ve ever seeing.

  • "I am not a lump of hash".

  • While I like Steve Coogan as a comedian, more than an actor, I believe he deserved an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for 24 Hour....

If we are talking the importance of a leading role in a film; Well, 24 Hour Party People was dependent on his realistic believability as Tony Wilson.

If Coogan said: "I'm Tony Wilson."

And WE, the audience didn't believe him, the movie was fucked!!

But we did and it was great!!!

  • Great compilation of scenes from the film..I love this movie..unfortunately I dont know many people I can show it to who would appreciate it. Steve Coogan is the man!

  • thanks mate. How many people were at the last supper? It was still important.

  • I love everything he does....just so funny...especially the AP stuff. Are you a fan?

  • @tamfl31 none of my friens like it, lots of people are not enjoying their lives, they must watch it...then they could die.

  • wilson you f...ing c..t.hilarious stuff and a great film.very under rated.

  • love when Tony says "...he will later try to kill me" about Martin Hannet, in the beginning of the film :)

  • Beyond brilliance.

  • i don't really like peter kay's stand up too much anymore but he was hillarious in this "go on tony put that on your t.v show" *while tony's getting sucked off*, "come on in love join the party..your coming in or what not coming in then fuck off" lol

  • "I've got to be honest...I'd rather be *sweeping* the Pennines right now."

  • i love steve at 6:25...HE'S FOOKIN ENOURMOUS! LOL

  • ive only just seen this film and loved it.not a huge coogan fan but i think as tony wilson he was superb.even his voice and mannerisms were the same.i remember seeing divine at the hacienda.one of the best clubs in the north west.years ahead of its time.thanks for posting.

  • can i get you half a lager?

you can get me a pint.

  • makes my tummy achey to think that tony isnt with us anymore, i had nothing but absolute respect and love for the guy

  • rest in peace tony, you great great strange man

  • Yaknow the scene at the beginning splices actual footage of Tony Wilson paragliding with Coogan speaking over it.

A fantastic film that always makes me laugh.

An odd period of time with some cracking tunes!!!

  • I've got to be honest with you, right now I'd rather be sweeping the Pennines.

  • 'jazz is the last refuge of the untalented, jazz musicians enjoy themselves far more than anyone listening to them..' :P

is tony wilson meant to be as hilarious as steve coogan's portrayal of him?

  • As far as I know, there was a lot of good will between the two. They were in promo pics for the film and Tony did an interview with Steve on the Tristam Shandy DVD.

Tony had 2 problems though. One about Steve calling Mick Hucknell a ginger and gold records in the Factory office. Things like that. No biggie.

  • Was the movie, and the choice of Coogan in the role, endorsed by Tony himself?!?

  • tony is a legend of rock .

  • "fuck off or i'll lay one on ya"

"he will i've seen him do it"

exactly the same words in the new film Control. x)

  • shh, kept it a secret.

ay, tony, put that on yer tv show.

  • great... naked ladies on youtube

  • 30 grand for a fucking table?!

  • rip, tony wilson was awesome.. will always be
