@JohnQuincyAdams1 I chose not to go with them for multiple reasons. One being that having no tail pipes gives the exhaust a more mellow tone, rather than a more choppy one. Another being that it saved me $200-$300, which I couldn't complain about.
@matthewt2010 - The advantage of tailpipes is it routes the poisonous exhaust gases away from and out the back of the car so those fumes don't come up and get into the interior of the car when the car is sitting still. Tailpipes costs $200 - $300? Were you looking at gold plated tailpipes? lol :)
@JohnQuincyAdams1 That's just the quote the company gave me... I guess It would have been $200-$300 total, not just for the tailpipes. But seeing how I only drive the car once or twice a week, I'm not too worried about being poison, and I like the sound :)
@matthewt2010 - Car exhaust has carbon monoxide in it, which can be a deadly toxic gas, but being colorless, odorless, tasteless, and initially non-irritating, it is very difficult for people to detect and attacks your central nervous system. It can lead to depression, confusion and memory loss. Is that worth it vs a sound? Tailpipes don't cost very much and protect your health, (along with anyone that rides in the car), while also keeping the cops off your back.
@matthewt2010 - Also, with no tailpipes, the exhaust noise is trapped *under the car*, making the car a sound box, with an echo-like sound. This also makes the interior of the car much louder than it would be with tailpipes. In some states, it's illegal not to have tailpipes because of the poisonous exhaust fumes safety issue.
That sounds great! I don't need them for the Z. Can I borrow them..for my '70 Chevelle? J/K I'm looking into possible flowmasters..but not the real loud kind..lol
I just purchased a set for my 4.3, what is the design of the muffler like? is it designed like a 40 series with the open chambers? or is it perfurated tubes like a stock or turbo muffler? your skylark sounds great, so many people buy the wrong mufflers for their V8s but these sounds impressive, gives me good hope for my 4.3 when the mufflers get here.
These mufflers were actually made by Dynomax. They are designed to compete with the Flowmaster 40's and I do believe they are open chambered mufflers. Good luck with your car!
They are called "Summit Race Mufflers." I have been very impressed with them over the last month. They have a Flowmaster 40 series tone. And the best part is the price. I highly recommend these.
I love the smell of stinky gassy car exhaust fumes plus I love that rumble as well

Your camcorder distorts a bit when you rev your fine buick. Maybe make a video with the camcorder about 10 feet behind.
Sounds dam good though. I think I might purchase those muffler for my 81 Z28.
