  • Great video describing the possibilities of the unthinkable. Two years ago I was skateboarding on the sidewalk approaching an elderly man. I made sure to allow enough space for both he and I to share the sidewalk without either of us being forced to the road or boulevard. As I began to slow down to pass him he turned slightly and punched me right in the stomach. He was 84 years old and I had to get up and let it go. Do I have an uncontrollable fear of elderly people beating me up? No. I dont.

  • One of my favorite exchanges from 12 Angry Men is; "It's Possible!" "But not very Probable!".

  • People deflect the underlying issue that mental health is a factor in all these shootings. Instead of buying guns to shoot crazies why not have crazies TREATED! This guy should have been on SERIOUS MEDICATION and under SUPERVISION of a therapist and/or doctor!

  • Addition: After the gun is sold (if the store has truthfully confirmed the buyers mental health) to someone, the state gets the role of watching after the gun owner, because it has to protect its citizens. This means regular checks of that persons mental health (every half year or year) and a complete list of every gun owner and of which guns they own (of course that means, you have to register your guns).

  • One thing can actually be done to improve security not just of congressmen, but of everyone and its the No. 1 thing, that should be discussed about it in the media right now:

There need to be much more thorough regulations to ensure the sanity and mental health of people, who want to buy guns. That will cost tons of money (because you´d need to employ a lot of psyche-experts) but its indispensable. Selling guns must mean being completely responsible for who gets them.

  • @standinstann:

While I'm not suggesting that this would totally deter criminals and while I certainly agree it's absurd to have the Congressmen packing heat to fire back (wow, that sounds even more ridiculous when you type it!) I would ask...

What's implicitly wrong with banning guns within 1,000 ft. of Congressmen/women?

After all, why would you WANT to have one within 1,000 ft. of a Congressperson?

It might be a silly law, but it seems harmless, unlike the airport absurdity...

  • @obiwanobiwan13 i see your point. would that be the end of the world? no, I don't think it would have much of an effect on anything, because i don't think that very many people DO carry guns within 1,000 ft of anyone. But that's kind of the point.

I have no doubt about the effectiveness of full body scanners and gun banning within X proximity of Y. I only have doubts about the wisdom and sanity of those proposals.

  • @standinstann i should say... I do actually have some doubt about the effectiveness of gun banning. An assassin or murderer doesn't care if they're banned within a certain area or not. But even if that were 100% effective, is it necessary? i don't think it is.

  • It makes some sense to do something about the gun laws in Arizona, but with the stuff they're proposing, they'd be better off doing absolutely nothing, instead of wasting everyone's time.

  • I got punched in the face one time just because I said I was a Nightwish fan. In case anybody asks, I listen to Opeth and CoB too!

  • Banning guns around congressmen? That's hilarious. So you're a criminal if you have a gun and a congressman happens to use the same public bathroom as you. There is no legal way to do such a thing. Also it's terribly funny to imagine congressmen in a wild west shooting on the streets. They should start putting things in the street that could serve as cover. Old diligences or barrils.

  • If they ban guns around congressmen, then only the criminals will have guns around congressmen.

  • @marscaleb exactly. That's the only effect gun control has.

  • @AlexSmithMusic Yeah and lowering the crime rate, lol.

  • @damanhl gun control laws don't lower the crime rate. It only takes guns from law-abiding citizens. Criminals break the law; therefore, gun laws don't take guns from them.

  • @marscaleb yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyep!

  • Apparently, America needs it's blue blanket...

  • The guy punched you in the face and just ran away? Odd....maybe he was on something.

  • @kbomb13 i think he was on something, but, truth be told, I was the one who ran away, he was just too lazy (or slow) to chase after me. lol.

  • Jeez, you were scared of a guy that belted you? I'd have gotten up and wailed on his ass, and then walk around in public just to offend his sensibilities!

  • @QuartuvLarry It was more a fear of "anything can happen, there doesn't even need to be a reason", but, more basically, yeah, i'm not a fighter, I'm non violent, and i'm not a very big guy.

  • @standinstann That's too bad, really. If I were your enemy, I would see that as an opportunity to pounce. Your first defense should be that you put up a good front. Shoulders back, chin up.

Back in high school, I was still a big guy, but I was very shy, and I hunched when I walked. Couldn't get a date for prom. I had to mentally teach myself to look more confident. Now people raise eyebrows and say to themselves "what's this guy all about?"

  • @QuartuvLarry I think people look at me and think "damn, what an awful haircut." :p

  • @standinstann LOL! Well, just be sure to take care of yourself. Appearance is more than we thought!

  • @QuartuvLarry haha. thank you =)

  • Hey Stan. Europe once tried what the government is now considering. Except at the time it was with swords. Every citizen was armed to the teeth and wouldn't hesitate to draw steel. And you know what happened? Everybody was killing eachother. The dueling frenzy was a disaster and people would fight over the slightest cause. These politicians are retarted and need to pick up a book and learn from the mistakes of previous societies.

  • Reminds me of when John Boehner said, "An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve."

  • He must've hated your videos.

  • Heh, almost got my ass handed to me three years ago by two gang assholes because I listened to the wrong music. Glad I escaped that with my health still untouched.

  • If Confused Matthew were with you that guy that punched you would've pissed his pants. LOL!

  • "You can't stop crazy people from doing crazy things with crazy laws - that's crazy!" ~Penn Jillette

Still, if I lived in a free country I'd carry a sidearm. Then again, I've been trained for it.

  • Heh, I had a nearly full can of beer chucked at my chest from an oncoming car last year, while I was angry I never asked for beer to be banned or anything. This did hurt and left a good bruise, but I got over it and moved on.

    **it happens.

  • So say we all!

  • Hey America...chill

    From Canada

  • I had a similar situation happen to me in high school too except I still haven't really gotten over it, and that was almost five years ago now.

  • @Andoeriz It took me a LONG time and lots of hard work to correct my thinking and train my instincts and reactions to work 'only' when they needed to. Not all the time, and whenever i was outside. As my therapist put it "I had the same reaction to a person talking loudly as i would to a saber tooth tiger charging at me". Believe me i understand, it's tough! tougher than most people would be able to relate to, but it DOES get better and easier!

  • wouldn't not having guns be safer at a proximity? Then what's the problem? It's a bigger precorsion but it works and is safe. There's no plus side to having a gun, so why carry one? I just don't see the point to having a gun your just bringing more hostilities to yourself!

  • @liamjhackett People being barred from bringing guns, knives, chairs, sticks, rocks, anything that moves, would definitely be safer. It would be safer if the congressmen walked around behind a bulletproof shield that extended a hundred yards in all directions, it would be safer if people were bound and gaged when within a certain radius of public officials. Yes, I'm being factious, but all of those things are true, (con't).

  • @standinstann The point is:

1; i don't care if I think, or you think, or anyone else thinks that there is no "reason" for people to have guns there or anywhere else, that isn't for us to decide.

2: There is no imminent danger to any of these people in the first place. This was one crazy person.

  • Can we at least agree that nobody should be allowed to bring a gun into youtube?

  • What's the deal with the cut off. Its like you had a lot more to say, but then it ends.

  • well I actually glad to see you back in action SIS welcome back dude

  • It cuts off.

  • @truthhopelove Fortunately, the only thing that got cut were the words "Just Stop!" that's pretty much where i ended it. i hate my editing software.

  • @standinstann Hey why did you remove my comment I just didn`t understand tyour response and we are friends, right?????
