i taught my bf's chinese crested how to sit, but i needed to physically push his behind down so he understood. eventually i was able to phase it out and now he just responds to 'sit'

Try asking the dog to sit on a carpet or something else that isnt slippery, it will work out better. The dog can feel irritation and frustration so you should never try to teach your dog anything the moment you feel either of those two coming.

I believe very strongly in animal welfare, but chill the fuck out everyone. The dog isn't being poorly treated in any way. It's a learning experience for the dog and the owner. It's cute. She's a funny little girl, i'm sure she has a lovely home with ya's.

I'm getting one of things dogs on Thursday--They are so cute! I hear they are stubborn, but I've trained cats to walk on a leash, sit, fetch, and jump on command which was no easy task, so I'm not too worried. The easiest way to teach a dog to sit is to say the command, and physically reach over it's back and push it's rump down on the floor. After repeatedly doing this with a reward, the dog will sit before you touch it's rump, if you see your hand motion. :D My chihuahua obeys everytime.

It is better if you just wait until it sit by its own and then just reward and say sit when it does. Chinese Crested don't like to be forced to do stuff, you have to make it so that they think its their own choice. I know the video is pretty old, but if you haven't allready try a clicker, they work very well on cresteds.

just for the record.chinese crested are not dumb, they are just terribly stubborn. if u were naked would u want your ass on the floor? i teach dog obedience with my dog and he is very well behaved, when he wants to be.

I AGREE WITH ZIROFAX. A GENTLE PUSH ON THE BUM TO GUIDE NOT FORCE THE PUP TO SIT AND THEN POP THE TREAT IN GETS THE MESSAGE ACROSS FASTER. tHE DOG CLEARLY DOESNT KNOW WHAT SIT MEANS.

Too cute, my crested had to go to obediance school 3 x before she passed. With persistance they are trainable :) Keep up the good work.
