  • Also, in case no one mentioned it before, that UK "Mystery of Mamo" DVD you got has the 3rd alternate English dub, with Lupin played by William Dufris. The Streamline VHS had Bob Bergen doing the voice, as he did for the Streamline "...Cagliostro." And then Tony Oliver dubbed Lupin for the Pioneer/Geneon "Secret of Mamo" since he dubbed 75 episodes of the 2nd series which we also got from Pioneer here in the states. So you could probably do a comparison of the 3 different Mamo dubs.

  • The Sherlock Hound series actually did make it to the US, in full I believe. It's just the individual DVDs are discontinued and very expensive to buy now. So I'm actually going to skip all that personally and buy a Universal DVD player so I can buy the set that you've been given there. Plus it's all in one set, so it's much more worth my while than 5 or 6 individual DVDs.

  • Is there any major differences in quality between the Cagliostro dubs?

  • Oh god yet another package. Think i will play with glass.

  • @TheYesMan30 It's in the process of being sent, he's next video will no doubt be on his Halloween collection. BTW, I'm going to send Sean a couple of spooky based items, so you stop playing with glass now, unless you seriously want to cut yourself.

  • If my girlfriend was watching this right now when you mentioned the Sherlock Holmes stuff especially the Jeremy Brett Granada series she would be immensely impressed! :). It's actually given me an idea to get her that Sherlock Hound set.

  • Incredibly awesome stuff. Usually buy that much in a month. Sherlock Hound had a US release but it's out of print same as the Lupin releases. I heard rumor or rather announcement of a complete set for the first series of Lupin coming out next year.

  • The Raccoons (both the TV specials and series) was produced in Canada exactly, and aired on the CBC I recall. In the US, we also saw it on The Disney Channel back in the 1980's though it currently isn't anywhere in the US at present.

  • Sherlock Hound did receive a VHS release in the US back in the late 80's/early 90's from Celebrity Home Entertainment's "Just For Kids" label. Pioneer Entertainment would release the series on DVD in the early 2000's though they're out of print. The entire series can be viewed on YouTube for us Americans thankfully so there's no excuse for us to look too far to find the clues!

  • so is that Akira streamline dub available on dvd at all? cause i loved it so much better than the later pioneer one. my favorite line is only in that streamline dub... when he says..."awww man... just when my coil is reaching the green line."

  • @angeltread I doubt it was made avaliable in the US on DVD. I know it was released on DVD in the UK as part of the 'Ultimate Collection' from Manga which is out of print, but there are quite a few copies around on sites like Amazon UK or eBay. That same dub may have also been used for the magazine Manga Force of which some issues or at least their DVD's can be seen on eBay. It may have had it's own DVD release prior to that but I'm not sure.

  • @David315842 Yeah, the Streamline dub was basically on the original VHS release and the Criterion Laserdisc release. The only DVD dub we got was the Pioneer dub.

  • @Zaranyzerak Oh it was on Laserdisc was it? I doubt we had that edition. But yeah i had a feeling you had the Geneon/Pioneer dub provided by Animaze, later Bang Zoom Entertainment, who ironically enough had some of it's actors working for Streamline in the past. :D Here in the UK, Akira became one of Manga's trademark films, so I guess the Streamline dub was very popular here, as for it to be released, alongside the Geneon/Pioneer dub on DVD here in the UK.

  • Some great animated series across the 3 packages. Have a question though, have you ever seen The Animals of Farthing Wood? I've waited years for a UK DVD release to no avail but recently discovered German releases (Als Die Tiere Den Wald Verliessen) of series 1&2 that have the English audio.

I let a family member convince me that they'd get me them for Christmas, but should be something cool to check out on the day. But I'll be gutted if English audio isn't included after all lol

  • @DaveSimonH Go to Amazon.de if it says Englisch then it has English on it. The Farthing Wood sets in Germany does have the English audio. I guess if the BBC gets more fan demand if will get a UK release.

  • @David315842 Thanks for the tip, yeah on their Amazon.de pages they have English listed in the audio section. I'll enjoy watching it again, great little series (well the first 2, third series was a disappointment).

  • @David315842 Hey man, the North American DVD volumes (all 6 volumes) had double sided discs, each disc had English dub on one side and original Japanese language with English subtitles on the other side....

  • @Kratos3228 I know that, I said that myself somewhere. I knew it had the Japanese version and the English dub, but the UK version just has the English dub.

  • And now because of events that have occured, I might asw ell tell everyone that I'm preparing to send another pakage. It's doubtfull it will be as uber as the last few, but Sean will indeed welcome what it is I'm sending him into his collection. ;)

  • @David315842 Oh yes and it was interesting to hear about the hi-fi dual audio tracks on video, I had no idea. :D

  • Best Package Opening ever, I would love to get those packages, everything in the list is great stuff, Miyazaki, Transformers, Lupin, etc, all awesome.

  • @Scarecrow76 Why thank you. :D

  • so,you have a region 2 dvd player so those discs can play?

  • @ironman4472 Yes, I have a region free DVD player. Two, in fact. And if they should crap out on me, I can easily watch them on my computer.

  • @Zaranyzerak boy. if only my PS3 was Region Free, AND Back-Up Compatible

I don't actually know if it's both or not anyways

  • YOU have the Greatest fans your a lucky Canadian type person :P

  • I always watch the English dub first, provided it has good voice acting and translation is exact/very close to the original, and if no footage is cut. Pretty much anything Disney or FUNimation handles. The subs I look at a little afterwards, just to hear what everyone sounds like.

  • Ive seen the dub your talking about for akira at a friends house its awsome he got it off of ebay but I forget how much he paid for it

  • @Zaranyzerak the complete Sherlock Hound series was released in North America by Geneon in 2002 in 6 volumes but the DVDs are now out of print.... We might as well get the UK release rather than getting those rare high price DVDs, don't you think?

  • @Kratos3228 The US DVD's had the original Japanese version, the UK set just has the English dub.

  • Is the Streamline Pictures dub of 'Cagliostro' as hilarious as their dub for 'Akira'?

  • @michele11804 Not as hilarious, but it does have that distinctive "Streamline-ness" to it. :) I'll always have a soft spot for their over the top dubs.

  • @Zaranyzerak "Should've wore an asbestos suit!"

  • One more thing. If Rosie is to young for G1 Transformers have you considered Transformers Animated. Both me and my hubby love the show, yes it takes some getting used to the art style but the stories are good however I would also say they are very kid friendly with more slapstick and humor. Animated also have a little girl as the main human (well sort of) character so Rosie might like her. Animated have three seasons and a pilot movie so a sizable show to. I recommend it.

  • Oh & the duel 90's tech tracks that is awesome buddy!

  • Awesome! The Racoons sweet! I remember that show & Sherlock Hound sounds epic! I love me all things Sherlock so I will add that to the wish/things to track down list post haste hehe! Be sure to tell us what Transformers Tikara is like for sure!

  • Your vampire head figurine had the black flaps on the side of the sunglasses in the first of this trio of videos, the figure was missing in the second one, but now it is back but missing the black flaps or whatever that on the side of the head was. Nice figurine by the way I have been eying it. You also seam to have moved the green skulls that come out of the frame pictures you had at the bottom of your shelf. In part one to they seam to have been moved on the shelf and now they seam to be gone.

  • i've never seen that brand of cigarettes, are they a canadian exclusive?

  • @David315832 It's ok I am in the UK :P I just didn't think they were out on DVD now that I know I think I will have to get them, Such a brilliantly epic package! Zaranyzerak (and Rosie) will love all those classics!

  • @VerminGTi I don't think Transformers is Rosie's cup of tea, but she might like most of the other stuff.

  • @David315842 Actually, Rosie likes Transformers. She's got a thing for cars, so she loves it when they transform. :) She's a girly girl, but I think she definitely has some tomboy tendencies too. :)

  • @Zaranyzerak Oh really? Wow, whbat have you made your daughter get into these days....hopefully Jem! :D But then I guess any child would find any tra nsforming robot to be a fasination as they change shape. ;)

  • i got the hellraiser box set the only reason they put another sticker over the top of the origanal raiting for cos they miss printed it it still had the 18 cert on it but it sed sutable for persons over the age of 15 so they coverd it with a sticker with the proper info.

  • i think we got dogtanian willy fog and sherlock hound in french ...in Quebec....version from france i guess

  • @superpug666 Quebec always got more than the rest of the country when it came to foreign toonage.

  • THE RACCOONS!!! one of my favorites, that makes me jealous now :P

  • @VerminGTi You can import these sets from the UK very easily from sites like Amazon UK.

  • @David315842 Just be aware that they''re Region 2 PAL format.

  • Hi. The Manga UK /Madman AUS DVD release of Secret of Mamo is the Pioneer Geneon dub. The Image snapper case DVD from the late 90s has the Streamline dub Mystery of Mamo. Manga UK had their own VHS dub from the mid 90s but is PAL VHS only - Australian and UK releases. There is also a fourth JAL international dub for inflight entertainment called Lupin III vs The Clone People. The Streamline Akira dub is available with the newer Pioneer dub on the Australian Manga/Madman DVD. Great video.

  • @starblazers100 The Manga UK DVD is the Manga UK Dub, not the Generon Dub.

  • @David315842 Really? My research was telling me different. Cool. I had been thinking of getting the old VHS. I thought the UK release just used the same materials as the Australian one. The cover is exactly the same except for the ratings logo and the madman logo.

  • @starblazers100 I'm pretty sure it is the Manga UK dub which makes sense, just because a disc has the same artwork, dosen't mean that it's the same disc. Remember the Australian disc is by Madman and is Region 4, so no doubt they'll probably did use the same film transfer, but the UK dub as that is the property of Manga. But in all honesty I'm not certain which dub it is, but i assume it is Manga's own in house dub.

  • Interesting that you said you only remember Cyril Sneer. It's sad to learn that the voice actor, Michael Magee just passed away this past summer.

  • there were 5 seasons and 60 episodes of The Raccoon. Also three made for TV movies, which I think David told me a year ago that weren't included on the sets.

  • @DKrules9 Ah okay, that sounds more like it. I recalled it seemed to be on for a very long time. When I was a kid, I saw the original specials when they first aired. :)

  • @Zaranyzerak So far none of the specials have made it onto DVD in anyway shape or form anywhere in the world right now. They were however released on Laserdisc back in the 80's in the US. :D Fabulous Films certanly put a lot of work into those Raccoons sets, in particular to find that rare documentery on the season 2 set. :)

  • @RetroToledo It's Let's Dance and from time to time you can find the laserdiscs on eBay and I think they're at affordable prices.

  • @David315842 Thanks for the correction.

  • @RetroToledo You're welcome. :)

  • @David315842 Just that it was late last night while I was typing and I didn't think to correcting my mistake quick enough.

  • @RetroToledo It's cool. Everyone makes mistakes.

  • My not into animation really but that is a tremendous three-part package. Great job to David-Bunch-of-Numbers. Very cool.

  • @MovieDemon Thanks. Though it does help if you're a big cartoon freak like me and Sean are. :)

  • best day on youtube ever

  • @megageek2031 It is for me. :D

  • that is a mutha of a pile of... cigarettes :(

  • @13evilpriest13 Yeah I saw those and I wasz trying not to mention them. But it's Sean's choice, it may help him while he's stressed by work or something.

  • @David315842 I was just pulling the fast one cos most people would have thought that sentence would end with dvd's

  • @13evilpriest13 Oh I see. The :( symbol though, lead me to believe that you may have been concerned?

  • Comment removed

  • @13evilpriest13 Fair enough. It's true that I don't smoke, nor do I intend to start, but I'm not the sort of person who would badger somebody into seeing my point of view. I just say that it's their choice, but yes I was shocked. Though i did warn Sean that not everything will fit onto his little music stand. :D

  • ...wait, I'm confused....so is the deluxe edition's dub audio good or bad?

    0_o

  • @MrWarners14 It's has the 5.1 Surround Sound mix with the added sound effects. If you don't mind the extra sound effects, then your golden. :)

  • @David315842 I'd probably let it slide...considering that nothing's perfect.

    ;)

  • @MrWarners14 That and this set is out of print anyway. :D

  • @David315842 Oh, then would I be able to at least try and find it on Ebay?

    Hi DavidLotsOfNumbers!

    :D

  • @MrWarners14 Hi there. :D

  • @David315842 I live in Australia...

    :D

  • @MrWarners14 Oh OK. :)

  • @MrWarners14 Yes. It's the 5.1 mix used for the Rhino releases, which adds a bunch of sound effects that weren't in the original audio (much to the annoyance of fans everywhere).

  • @Zaranyzerak That...sucks...but do you think it's still worth getting dispite that issue?

    *curious*

  • @MrWarners14 Well, despite the sound issue, it IS a pretty sexy little set. And the video elements are all true to the broadcast masters. It's really up to you. David wanted to be thorough, so for a "pure" set he sent me the 3-volume version, which of course has all the episodes out of sequence... Then for completeness he sent me the Deluxe Set, which has some nice extras, all the episodes are in order and it makes a sweet display piece. :)

  • @Zaranyzerak Yeah. The thing is I'm not a Transformers fan but if I were to look into the franchise, I'd consider it.

    ;)

  • WOW Indeed. i sent all that stuff. :D And I'll probably get around to send a few more things once Xmas is passed and hopefully the UK will not be completily buried in snow for months. :D I'll eagily await the referendum that is Part 4. As always you're very welcome, I do enjoy sending you stuff! :)

  • I sed to have the special edition dvd of Akira with both english dubs, I have since upgraded to the blu ray which only has the 2nd dub

  • @13evilpriest13 I have the Ultimate Edition that has both dubs. I'll certanly be on the lookout for another copy. :D

  • @David315842 There's a version with BOTH dubs??? I need....

  • @Zaranyzerak You need it, I'll buy it. :) ..... Seriously though I will buy it! :)

  • Hmm I cant recall Sherlock Hound, looks like a lot of fun though!

  • Wow!

  • to zannarak how come show many people like your videos man are you. Your super sucessfull online and you have on of the preetest daugthers ever.
