DDR is the most famous and one of the original games to be rhythm game based.

It's true, what you say. And to be honest, I personally believe that DDR, ITG, PIU and such, are rhythm games.

Those who call it DDR style games (branching off to FFR, GH,RB, etc) aren't to sure on the genre as a whole.
