And to that saltysquirrel person, not every piercing is a 14g. It's the standard size, but you can ask for a size up or a size down. Soo yeah.. my lip was pierced with a 16gauge needle. Look your shit up(:

When I pierced mine I done it with a 14 gauge. It hurt really bad pulling the needle out and leaving the ring in it. It sucked ass, because it was like pulling my nose with it. It stung. But other then that, the piercing didn't hurt(: I'm going to be getting my collar bones pierced friday.

all the sterilized instruments are in air tight packaging so even if he touches them there's no problem as they're still packaged. That's why they're in those packets, to keep them clean until opened. However he did get the cleaning bit wrong, you don't use soapy water, it's actually saline water (hot water with salt) to clean piercings or wounds to help fight infection.

I did my septum myself with a 14g hollow needle i had no problems i didnt use clamps im having no problems with mine only thing i hated was my eyes watered like crazy and my nose was running like hell when i was piercing it. if you do it yourself leave the needle in for at least 5 mins before you put the ring in.
