It's either Maternal Instincts, where Solan dies, or between shows while Solan is in Tartarus (as found when Xena&Co. go there later in the series). It doesn't happen in The Bitter Suite.

@808helenabcfan Ah, didn't notice this comment until today. Season 5 episode 12, when Xena decides to steal Hades's Helm of Invisibility, and they run across Solan in Tartarus. Solan chose to be there - the "punishment" he put himself into was to relive the parts of his life he most regretted, because he wanted to see Xena again

all it means is for whatever reason, they couldn't use Gabrielle's voice for singing, so they hired someone to sing for Gabrielle.  it wasn't actually Renee O'Connor singing.

Hudson hit the nail on the head--the message of the episode was spiritual and it was beautiful...I didn't like the episode at first, then began re-watching it and started to really love it...all of Xena and Gab's sins against each other are fully exposed...and they can start fresh again

This was not one of my favorite episode. I remember seeing a bunch of clips from "clip show" episodes of Xena, mostly when Xena is about to chuck Gabrielle over the cliff and I thought "Wow, I wonder if she'll actually do it?" And then when I saw the epsisode, I thought I had stepped into the mind of a crackpot. My expression throughout the entire 60 minutes was a serious "WTF?" Despite the theme it was trying to express through a musical. I never watched it again.
