How good is the sound on the camera? I'm gonna use it for doing acoustic guitar covers with singing :) Do you think it will sound good? will the mic "roar" when you sing/play loudly? I'm gonna be using a tripod so nvm the image stab.
Just bought similar yesterday and still having problem shooting in low light environment. Should be with the VDO quality configurations. Apart from that it's a great camera that my wife can use it within 5 minutes.
@ILLEGITIMATEVXL95 : You're probably seeing frame drops that have nothing to do with the camera, just common for internet streaming. The camera does show some motion artifacts that you can see when panning on a scene with lots of moving elements (like leaves moving in breeze), but the frame rate seems to be consistent.
Hi I was wondering if I can get an oppinion on what you would buy. A sanyo vpc-cg10 or a sony mhs-cm5 bloggie? I ask you this because on this camcorder the zoom is way to fast and for the sony you can hear a motor sound when you zoom in. So what do you think is worst? Which one would you buy? Thanks in advance!
I'm not familiar with the Sony you mention. The choice between poor zoom control and motor noise might make me choose not to buy one. These are cheap cameras and you just have to decide what YOU can't tolerate. There isn't any one right choice.
i actually figured it out - its because its such a wide angle when not zoomed at all...so all u have to do is zoom in a little bit and its gone yah great camera i think best in this price range :)
is it just me or does anyone that has this camera...see a bit of a fish eye effect on this cameras output...im wondering if i should returm my xacti because i notice a slight fish eye effect on all my footage? please someone contact me on any helpful info with this situation?
well alittle i guess.. if u look at the beginning of this video and focus at the horizen u can see that it isnt a straight line. Maybe the camcorders so good it can pick out the curvature of the earth? ha ha but seriously for $150 bucks it looks good enough for me.
Image stabilization is relative to how much movement there was. Since I haven't done a comparison with stabilization turned off it wouldn't be fair to judge performance based on this video. I was standing on a wooden dock with some wobble to it, and trying not to fall into the water.
It's a great camcorder for sure, but i am concerned about the memory card's capacity.. Does it come with one? (They are not that cheap) and how big each video on High-resolution?
It doesn't come with a memory card, but they aren't expensive. I don't know where you're shopping, but you can get a 16GB card on Amazon for about $36. Compare that to the cost and extra work of buying and using tapes.
I don't agree that it's a great camcorder. It's OK for the price, but it's not a serious tool and has lots of limitations, not the least of which is the very poor zoom control and motion artifacts.
It just depends on what you want. It's a lot of camcorder for the price, and VERY convenient. I bought it for my daughter, but I borrow it for the easy factor. That said, I wouldn't buy it for myself because I find it wanting: Pedal to the metal zoom control makes smooth zooming impossible for me; still image quality is mediocre at best, and there's no input for external microphone. I'm an AV professional so that stuff really bugs me, but if it doesn't matter to you, it's a very handy camera.
Hey there Could you take a look at somthing for me its For the Sanyo Xacti VPC CG10 .. Errm Dunno if you have msn that would be eaiser. Theres this tripod for The Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG9, HD1010 Camcorders
Will it work with the cg10?? i'll post link thanks. im in the uk so i cant order it over from america :(
I don't know what tripod you're talking about, but the socket on the CG10 is standard, so any photo or video tripod should work. Whether it's the best pod for that camera is a matter of opinion and experience.
Hey there you alright... Errr i was wondering if you have a tripod for this camera. If you do what model is it and where did you buy it thanks.. Im in the uk btw if that helps. Nice video.
It has a standard threaded tripod socket so you can put it on any photo or video tripod. None of the clips I've posted were shot with a tripod and I haven't used it with a tripod yet. I did use it with a monopod earlier this week and that made a big difference, but of course you can't walk away from a monopod unless you strap it to something.
The one I bought is NTSC so it records at 30fps. If you live in a country that uses the PAL television system (which is 25fps) you can't view 30fps video on your television. But that doesn't mean you can't edit the videos on a computer, so long as your software supports NTSC video. Any software designed for use in the United States would support it, but I can't vouch for any specific product.
its not the best, and i beleive it will take away some of the video quality when you edit it... its not really made for HD editing, you know what i mean? just a suggestion, but feel free to do what ever :)
The specification says 70 minutes continuous recording time. I haven't done anything but some short clips so far, so I don't know how it does in the real world.
This is a great little camera for the money, but if you expect to get slow, steady zooms you'll be disappointed. I've found it almost impossible to get consistent zoom speed, and most often it's a full speed leap from one extreme to the other. I have large hands, which may be part of the trouble, but at heart I think it's a design flaw.
I don't recall whether I zoomed it all the way in this clip, but it's likely. There is also digital zoom, but the quality quickly degrades as you would expect, and it's impractical to use it while hand-held.
I notice what looks like frame rate drop even when playing back the original file on my computer. The Fiip HD camcorder actually seems to handle motion better, and has better clarity in the image. But the Sanyo is overall a much more versatile camera because of the larger viewfinder and zoom lens.
I'm not sure what you mean, but it sounds like your screen may have some bad pixels; they may be on but unable to change color or brightness. If that's the case, it might be covered under warranty if there are a lot of them.
I don't think that would affect it. Sports mode normally increases shutter speed to reduce blurring, which is why it doesn't work well in low light. Shutter speed is the length of time the imaging chip is exposed to the scene, it isn't the same as frame rate. Lots of motion puts a heavy load on the camera's processor, and when you move a camera (as in the panning I was doing) literally everything in the scene is moving and has to be processed.
does it focus things up closee?

@beautyrush1214
At full wide angle it's sharp down to about 6" from the subject.

im confused is the sanyo vpc cg10 different from the sanyo xacti vpc cg10?

No. Xacti is just Sanyo's name for their digital video/still image cameras. The CG10 is just one of those.

It's no harder than uploading any other video to youtube, but HD files are bigger so it takes longer for a given length of footage.

Also, the zoom speed is much too fast; it's impossible to do a nice slow zoom, or at least it is with my big hands.

hi, what format is it when it is uploaded?
thanks
TcFreestyIe 2 years ago
MPEG4, H264, 1280 x 720

The drop in FPS is because of youtube video format I think. My camera seems to still maintain smooth 30fps at the root file.
