Also, should my brew head be coated with coffee all the time? The coffee is never hard like a hockey puck with this machine. I could achieve that with my old Krups steam machine!
@gaceconi1 There's a couple things wrong here. While a hard puck isn't necessarily something that is indicative of good espresso, it is usually a good indicator of several related factors. First, and most importantly, it shows that the coffee has been fully extracted. Second, it indicates proper tamping force. Third, it represents a proper grind.
Same here. I'm ready to return this machine. Is it always this temperamental to brew with? My $60 Krups steam machine made better espresso with crema and much better frothed milk. I cannot make froth to save my life with this machine and it is over 6 times more expensive! What gives?
crema on krups = fake crema. Much better foam than silvia, I dont think so. Which foam is better for you, macro or micro? If bigger is better, then it is :p.
This machine requires skill, not just push a button and wait. Grind, distributing, tamping, everything is count on silvia
@gaceconi1 My friend, with espresso machines, generally the more expensive they are the better shot they are capable of producing, which also makes them more difficult to use. For a good espresso on the silvia everything has to be right - fresh coffee, exact grind setting, proper dosing, even and consistent tamp and proper brew pressure/ temperature.
I think your coffee is not distributed evenly. Look at your shot that came on the right spout more than the left one. Try bottomless portafilter and you'll know what i means.
Yes, i feel the same, but still could easily enjoy it ! I go more for 20 or 25 secnds. The end is not alwayys good.
@rama3i : where do you get those bottomless portafilter for Rancilo Silvia? i'd love one. Also any tips to have the good volume of coffee in the portafilter ? There is a limit where you can't screw the portafilter, but if you are too much under the limit, your coffee is too light !
Not trying to prove anything however I was hoping for comments about the shot itself, I'm not quite sure if 60ml is meant to be the finished liquid shot or the amount including the crema?
sieht auf jeden ganz schön komisch aus
