It is a pity that the original Iranian people allow themselves to be conquered by the Arabs & their Islamic religion. Their original religion Zoroastrianism was so rich in cultural values and beliefs. From my understanding Khomeini got most of his support from backward villages and such, which still are his main source of support. The people in the cities (particularly Teheran) seem much liberal and open, and less prone to blindly follow religious leaders. Correct me if i'm wrong though=)

It is a pity that the original Iranian people allow themselves to be conquered by the Arabs & their Islamic religion. Their original religion Zoroastrianism was so rich in cultural values and beliefs. It even spread throughout North India, possibly 3000 BC with the Indo Aryan invasion, and today has many commonalities with the Hindu scriptures, like the RigVeda, etc. Iranians should be proud of their heritage, traditional cultures & beliefs, and not change it for the Islamization of its people.

From my understanding Khomeini got most of his support from backward villages and such, which still are his main source of support. The people in the cities (particularly Teheran) seem much liberal and open, and less prone to blindly follow religious leaders. Correct me if i'm wrong though=)

Ayatollah Khomeini was a charismatic leader and the liberal iranians did not think he would stay and manipulate the newly formed democracy into an islamic state. what are you dreaming! Pluralism! Not even the United States or any country on earth for that matter has such a thing. Because it is a dream and it will lead to chaos and it PLURALISM the same thing as NO GOVERMENT and ANARCHY. I want Constitutional Monarchy and that is the ONLY way for a big strategic resourceful country like Iran.
