I've met these guys. They're not junkies they both work an accountancy firm during the day and like to relax after a long day at work as we all do. Just because they choose to relax slumped against a wall in a public place I don't think they should be judged.
It's a shame you were on Argyle St/Trongate where you had the chance to film a busy shopping area. This street has shops, cafes, street entertainment, flower stands and in my experience it is generally a good place to be. But you decided to point your camera at people who are among the most unfortunate members of our society as if they were here for your amusement. Go out and see a bit of the world and then come back and see what a vibrant, tolerant and forward looking city Glasgow is.
You know, I've read all these comments, and I am surprised at how defensive people are about junkies etc. It is true that some homeless people are harmless, but most, if not all the ones I have dealt with, came to my attention because of the stuff they do, such as shoplifting or other crimes!The 'good' homeless people don't do this stuff, so don't hit my radar, so I don't bother with them!Hate security all you want, but we are better than the alternative, which is to let junkies do as they wish!

I'm a security guard & steward in Glasgow, and I say get these pieces of shit off the street and in the jail where they belong, not handing them flats and methadone treatments that don't work! I've lived all over Britain, and seen junkies everywhere! But junkies in Glasgow are a breed apart from anywhere else! They make other junkies look quite good actually! In 1998 I was in Brighton working with a group called HALO - Homeless And Lonely persons Organisation. we were trying to help these people, get them started on the path to a normal life, but all most of them did was steal what they could and jack up in the toilets!They didn't want help, they wanted free handouts as well the drugs they were dependant upon! they didn't want to change!We did try though!

@MadMac2236 You would be very surprised at the types of people who are coming through homeless projects in Glasgow, in the last two months i have seen several people who have fallen on hard times due to losing their jobs and then having their houses repossessed. Last year we dealt with over 2000 families/couples and single people who ended up homeless due to no fault of their own and i can say that less than 2% had previous drug problems. It can happen to anyone.

I am well trained and very experienced, and while some ex-armed forces members do have trouble living outside the military, I am lucky enough not to be one of them. Most of those who need the help are actually getting it. We had to deal with all kinds, junkies, alchies, homeless, refugees and immigrants, the whole lot. All this BS about homeless not being that bad, in my experience as a security guard, I found the homeless to be just as violent in their thievery as junkies and others! I don't label without good reason. I know what I'm talking about, unlike some of the people on here!

In my experience junkies and quite a lot of homeless people, have been rude,aggressive and usually got caught doing something wrong! That's the only reason I ever dealt with them. I can say with authority that I am not a bully, violent or a meathead, which more than a few bouncers think they need to be. I also have a lot of respect for life in general,but that respect diminishes when you deal with enough lowlifes!

@MadMac2236 Hi, I can't see why legalising heroin wouldn't be a good thing. All countries that have done this seem to have had an almost totally posityive outcome. The crime and thieving you describe stops, health improves, less ODs. I mean all the "bad stuff" that people ascociate with heroin (it kills, its dirty, they steal etc etc etc) are ALL caused by it's prohibition. As for the police, for the most part they can't be bothered and there is such a high number of these piss-bags here, they'd never be doing anything else if they concentrated on them! @bloddyscabb - Maybe people should stop making excuses for these people and accept that they are in the mess they're in because they made a choice! If they commit crime because of the choices they have made, then prison is exactly where they should be! There exists so many programmes and help clinics for these people, but they choose not to go on them! Why? Because they get more money from benefits and free methadone, on top of their daily hits! Why would they give that up? Not by choice!!

@MadMac2236 You would be very surprised at the types of people who are coming through homeless projects in Glasgow, in the last two months i have seen several people who have fallen on hard times due to losing their jobs and then having their houses repossessed. Last year we dealt with over 2000 families/couples and single people who ended up homeless due to no fault of their own and i can say that less than 2% had previous drug problems. It can happen to anyone.

I am well trained and very experienced, and while some ex-armed forces members do have trouble living outside the military, I am lucky enough not to be one of them. Most of those who need the help are actually getting it. I can tell you from personal experience of employing ex-squaddies that, to a man, these guys all had issues which I can only assume stems from they're life in the forces. But at least you hint at some sort of understanding towards them. Maybe you should admit that it's not fair to label people without knowing their personal pains.

@tammas2000 - My original comment is based upon a wealth of personal experience from when I used to work in Tesco's for Reliance. We had to deal with all kinds, junkies, alchies, homeless, refugees and immigrants, the whole lot. All this BS about homeless not being that bad, in my experience as a security guard, I found the homeless to be just as violent in their thievery as junkies and others! I don't label without good reason. I know what I'm talking about, unlike some of the people on here!

In my experience junkies and quite a lot of homeless people, have been rude,aggressive and usually got caught doing something wrong! That's the only reason I ever dealt with them. I can say with authority that I am not a bully, violent or a meathead, which more than a few bouncers think they need to be. I also have a lot of respect for life in general,but that respect diminishes when you deal with enough lowlifes!

@MadMac2236 Hi, I can't see why legalising heroin wouldn't be a good thing. All countries that have done this seem to have had an almost totally posityive outcome. The crime and thieving you describe stops, health improves, less ODs. I mean all the "bad stuff" that people ascociate with heroin (it kills, its dirty, they steal etc etc etc) are ALL caused by it's prohibition. If you banned coffee, you'd have loads of coffee deaths, and stealing for it etc etc. Just don't get the reason for illegal
