I remember watching this movie when it orignally came out. I was still young then, but even now like it did back then his story really moves me. Kids can be so horrible and be bullies, but that is only because they learn that from their parents. @play4u67 Actually if you look at the dates and not just the years, his birthday was Dec. 6 so he just turned 18 in 1989 and he passed away just 4 months later in April of 1990. You are right about this being heartbreaking, but more so to think of what Ryan and his mother went through. I think anyone could understand the fear but not the torment and intolerance that were heaped on them for something that was never their fault. My prayers for Ryan and his family.

Ryan had the same problem after he died. His grave site was vandalized one too many times. they actually had to move the monument you see in this video in order to protect it from being trashed.

i am not sure when the video was taken, that looks like the old marker, it was distroyed by vandels some years back, i hope that is the new one put back in its former glory.... looking at it, i think this is the new one, because the old one was imilar but much more detailed.... his mother lives so close she can look out her kitchen window and see it, she was the first to notice it wasnt there one day... that was just a year or so after he passed on

His mom lives in Florida now I believe, I was only 8 when he died and vaguely remember his story. But I found out through reading his book recently, that he is buried about 15-20 mins from me. I had no Idea he lived in Cicero (town by mine) and that he went to Heights High School. The principle back then actually moved to my school my freshmen year and now is Super Intendant of Heights..He goes to my church. His story is a really good, down to earth read.

Yes! Ryan wrote a biography called RYAN WHITE: MY OWN STORY. It is sad and touching. I cried at the end. It tells his whole life, about the people who were mean to him, and nice to him, and the celebrities he met. He tried so hard to live a normal life and keep a positive attitude. The last chapter of the book was written after he passed away. The next to last chapter describes his final illness. He was an amazing person

Once people began finding out about Ryan White having it, he got expelled from school because they were afraid they'd have it too. So Ryan and his mother went to court and finally won. He befriended celebrities like Michael Jackson. And the song MJ wrote, Gone Too Soon, was for Ryan White.
