@wovokanarchy Hillbilly redneck music?? If you are referring to "Southern Rock", then I believe the words of the song pertained to his free-spirit.. not how much money he came from.
@wovokanarchy He wasnt romanticising about being poor in my honest opinion.
He 'rebelled' against the thought of society deeming a poor man as a lesser person, where the only people with success in life are the people who have a lot of money.
And besides that, values and artistic credibility are often shoved aside for money, to sell out.
If anything, he showed the world that there is nothing wrong with being poor, that you dont need money to live a fulfilling and meaningful life.
@wovokanarchy Hey, i'm not saying he was without faults. If he had just brought a map with him he could have found an exit to his situation rather quickly and he wouldnt have starved to death. His mistake wasnt even eating the wrong plants as suggested in the movie, he ate the right ones but the wrong parts in the wrong season of it because his food was running out.
Still, even that i can somewhat respect. He was an explorer in a world with nothing left to explore, so he got rid of the map...
@wovokanarchy Everyone is different. Everyone has a different outlook on life. I embrace the differences in us... it makes us all unique. You just don't get Chris... but some of us do.
@wovokanarchy So what if he had lived and walked out of the wild and returned to civilisation? Would you understand him then?
Yes he is dead, but he did something most of us rarely ever do: he chased his dream and made it reality. He lived his life the way he wanted to, so he could have peace at the end.
I say its better to be dead having followed your dream than live in a false sense of security and never do anything. He went to extremes to make dreams happen, and its inspirational to many.
@SiCDisaster What's so hard about going out into nature anyway? That's a dream? He didn't understand the reality of nature to begin with, he only had an "idea'' of nature in his mind, that's what got him killed.
@wovokanarchy He lived and wandered around for two years prior to coming to Alaska, i'd say he knows what the reality of nature was. The possibility of dying is one he did accept and acknowledge.
There is much more than just his trip to Alaska, though Alaska was to be the culmination of his efforts.
He wanted to see if he had what it takes to survive in the wild, to prove that he could take care of himself, like primitive man did. To be able to do what truely is required to live.
i truly respect chris and he and i are a lot a like i spent 5 years hitchhiking canada and have spent 3 months in the wild aka no mans land ultimate freedom i made some travel videos check em out on my page
@paroutdiok Chris?? Just a free-spirit/drifter who didn't want to attend college, instead he hit the open road... wanting adventure. He found an abandoned bus up in Alaska I believe, he used it as shelter, writing, etc... and didn't live through the winter though. He died at 23. great novel, highly recommend it.
@buffycharmedangel102 He did attend college he graduated from Emory University in 1990, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandoned his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life. He didn't want to attend graduate school. He found that ultimately life was about sharing it with someone- he died free but lonely.
I was on my moms account when I posted that last comment... meant to post it on this account.. lol. That was awesome... very well put together video. Thanks for making it a video response to mine :)
AMAZING VIDEO! This video was so well put together. i saw the movie, and cried at the ending. the song fit very well. You should try doing it to that song "How to Save a Life" or to the to the other one "Boon Dock Saints"
Thank you, His story may have saved my own life, I found myself on quite a similar path. At the least, I can not think of ever seeing any movie more REAL, just like the true life of this man. Thanx for this video, its well done.

What's with the hillbilly red neck music adapted to a movie about a privileged white kid from the suburbs who romanticized about being poor?

@wovokanarchy It has nothing to do with him 'romanticising' being poor though. If that still is what you think than you just dont understand the man.
SiCDisaster 11 months ago
@SiCDisaster How could I understand the man? He's dead from being overly sentimenal about ''nature'' and ''zoo animals''.
