George was one hard son of a gun, would easily be world Champion today. I can't remember what his highest ranking was I think he might have made the top 10 back then.
@whitenightf3 He was ranked as high as number one contender and was in the top ten of heavyweight boxing for over 17 years - longer than any other fighter in history!
Ali NEVER went to the hospital after fighting george (chuvalo started that LIE). The 3 judges had Ali winning almost EVERY ROUND against george in BOTH fights...and the 1st one was in CANADA. George was beaten SAVAGELY by both Frazier and Foreman, and also lost decisions to Ellis, Terrell, Bonavena, Mathis, and many others. Not going down doesnt make you the "toughest guy ever to step into the ring" lol, WINNING the fights does...
@ZION82able Actually, Ali admitted to going to the hospital. And there's no shame in being hospitalized after fighting Chuvalo. He was a relentless body puncher - especially in the days of their first fight. I'm glad he was treated, though. Ali was great
@ZION82able Actually, let's do this the other way around. There seems to be a billion people online, including Chuvalo himself, saying that Ali went to the hospital after the fight with bleeding kidneys. Can you show one example of Ali denying that this happened?
I doubt you can but if you do find something, please reply.
@atmoi666 Actually, let's NOT...just because Chuvalo and a "billion" of his admirers say that Ali went to the hospital does'nt mean that it happened. YOU'RE the one who wrote that Ali "admitted" to going to the hospital after the fight...AGAIN I ask, can you show any evidence of this?
I doubt if you can but if you do find something, please reply.
@ZION82able Actually, there was some recent footage of him talkin about the treatments he received to get his kidneys to stop bleeding, but you couldn't really make out what he was saying, you know, because all he does is mumble now, most likely due to some of the bombs he took from Chuvalo... you know, the toughest guy he ever fought.
@atmoi666 Why'd you find it neccesary to resort to name-calling?! Just b/c I called you out on the lie you told about Chuvalo? It's not that serious, fella!
with all do respect to Ringo (oscar) He ,IMO, beat Paterson. Send Ali the hospital pissing blood and the quality of opposition is not even close. He was always in the thick of that era. Got love a guy who loves Joe Louis.A class act.
oscar bonavena was also very tough to knock down.. Ali had all he could handle against him and he knock frazier down twice..he had a head like a cement block
Chuvalo must have some incredible skull or brain cause he took so much punishment and he shows no signs of braindamadge after over 90 fights and at 70 years old.
chuvalo was a great body puncher.george hit ali with some hard body blows but ali was tough.

Chuvalo is often considered to have had the greatest chin in the history of boxing. He was never knocked down in 93 fights an impressive record.

Watch the second Ali-Chuvalo fight. Ali's mystique won the fight. Chuvalo was so tough it was scary. He and Marciano.
