I have an 05 dodge 1500, with about a 10.5 inch lift and 38s, my front driveshaft makes a horrible grinding noise when its moving, and my mechanic says that its the boot or something that has worn out and grease has slung all over the place under the truck. Is there any way to fix this? Maybe a spacer or something? He also said that its wearing out because of the angle that the drive shaft connects to the transfer case, any input would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks, love all of your vids!
@briansmobile1 On the Dana 44 the right seal has to go in from the CAD side, and there isn't room inside the CAD housing to swing a hammer to tap it in. So, on my 1998 Dodge 1500 I used a long threaded rod and a large washer to drag the seal in from the inside out. How did you seat the right axle seal on your Dana 60?
BRIAN look into buying a 4x4 posi lock- its a pull cable system that replaces the vac. actuator.... 100% reliable I LOVE MINE and as a bonus I now have 2 wheel low range as well for backing up trailers!
@briansmobile1 it should be easy to find in the states the brand itself is called 4x4 posi lock....it is well worth the 200 or so dollars...i love mine!
love the jump for the coptor... LMBO! ! our jeep kept breaking the vacuum lines when we lived in the mountains so we would crawl under it and manually switch it.. used to love rolling in the mud! NOT!
I just installed a 4x4 Posi-Lok #400 cable system last week on my 96 ram 3/4 ton replacing all that vacuum junk. My truck front axle was stuck in 4wd. I highly recommend the posi-lok.
@beefystik Nope. I break things as it is. I need to find the right set up before doing that. This truck does mostly highway now. I use it to drag trailers and winch people out of the median/off the shoulder in the snow. I used to do that off road scene. I've had four Cherokees built for that. (I'm not far from Moab)
My Dodge is old enough it has the Borg Warner auto locking hubs. I haven't had a problem with them (yet)

What do you use to pull a new right axle seal into place?
spelunkerd 5 months ago
@spelunkerd If I'm thinking the same thing you are then I'd use a driver as apposed to a puller.

@JonesDieselPerforman I NEED THAT! Tell me what brand and where to get it. Turbo diesel stands to benefit from 2WD Low the most.

Ever been inside an older FJ40 axle?

F-18s are always buzzing my house. Why are those vacuum lines so flimsy? Should be a market for braided steel replacements.

@Jerroh6 It's a good system. I think a cable can be a lot better in many circumstances like on a diesel.

I'm curious after watching the other video. The 4x4 isn't any kind of limited slip or locker?
